Valentine's Day isnt all about commericalisation and buying and spending money on things for your parnter/loved one. Yeah sure stores put advertisments for it with lots of pink and hearts and other icons to picture with 'love', but really who needs to recieve a gift to be reminded that you love your partner?
Personally, what would be wrong than just the two of you cooking a nice romantic dinner by candle light, snuggling watching a movie at home? Nothing. Wouldnt cost you anything and on the plus side you wouldn't have to spend heaps on a gift (maybe a card). Atleast afterwards if the mood is right it might lead to something more 
Im neither for or against the day, as I dont think you need a reminder that you love one another but it is nice that you have a reason to do something special which doesnt necessarily mean buying gifts like most of you are presuming is what its all about.

I agree with Jax 100 percent on this one. I'm neither for or against the holiday myself. As Jax has already mentioned, I don't think that you need one specific day in the whole year to tell your partner or express to them that you love them. On the other hand, it is nice to have a day where you can just spend together "celebrating" your love for one another. I mean, sure stores do make a lot of profit from this 'holiday', but it's not just about buying special gifts for your loved one.

I'm against since it's commercial and annoying. Besides my birthday is 13th february, so I hate it when people come to say happy birthday to me on valentines day and I have to say everytime: "Dude, thanks but it was yesterday.." It's just annoying.

Yeah I believe that too , that you don't need an specific day to tell your love how much you love them and stuff , but well I just can't believe how they have comercialized such ald tradition and become what it has come today , but well anyways it doesn't bother me and yes I gave something special for my love

I agree, the purpouse of this day is mostly commercial, you don't need a specific day to tell to your loved ones that you love them, but if someone thinks that this is a good ocassion is perfectly fine. Here in Colombia pople don't care so much about valentine's day but we have a similar celebration called "El dia del amor y la amistad" which is something like "The love and friendship day" and it's basically the same thing 
I think that if someone agrees with this celebration it's ok, but better if the person makes good use of it celebrating without presents, but taking advantage to demonstrate his/her love/friendship, imo, it could be a good idea

I agree. Valentine's day is just commercialism, not about tradition anyomore. Besides you don't need a specific day to buy some gifts or to say that you love your girl/boy friend. Everything else has been said above.

I agree with everyone saying that it's commercial garbage with yucky pink shit, that it makes single people feel depressed or uncomfortable, and that someone doesn't need a specific day to show someone they love them... But I'm not one to turn down an excuse to celebrate, get chocolate, and have sex Though truth is, I usually don't actually do anything besides buying cheap chocolate the next day. I've only had one Valentine's Day that I wasn't single and I still didn't even do anything. I had fun with it when I was a little kid and we used to get those cards and little chocolates for everyone in class though. It just gets annoying when people ask me what my plans are and feel the need to give me a pity party when I say I'm not doing anything or don't have a date. But I won't rain on the party for people who want to enjoy themselves...

I'm still against it, but only because I think that you don't need a special day to express love for the person you are with. I would definitely go to Valentine's day parties though, simply because I have the best conversation starter ever, I just introduce myself and say "yeah I invented this shit, you're welcome!"
I am not one to say no to chocolates/fancy dinners/whatever, but my means of protest against this "holiday", would be to have chocolates/a romantic date/whatever, on any day of the year EXCEPT for February 14th. I will still not feed into this stupid crap.
