The vocals are really really good on this new album and also Antti's leads are just amazing. I would have to say I like this album even more than The Black Waltz and that album is so damn good. Plus Marco plays a bigger role this time and he really shines a lot. Favourite songs would have to be the title track and Holy Symphony Of War but the rest are all amazing to, plus the cover of Arise is sick also really well done and a good choice of cover to.

They Will Return is still number one for me though

u heard the cover track 'arise'? do u know where i could get a copy?

I have a question, maybe it has already been anwsered, but i couldn't find it. So here it is: which is the political position of kalmah?, cuz sometime i think they are anarchists, other capitalist and other just idiots.

ah! other question, kalmah are religious?

I think their lyrics are meant to be take more, as something that can be interpreted differently from person to person as their lyrics are kind of vague. Though they do have songs addressing politics and religion to some extent, but nothing that can really reflect on what the members of the band actually believe in.

how's that posible?, there has to be some meaning in their lyrics?

Well, sure, you could interpret some things in their lyrics to be one thing or the other. For instance, in the song 'For the Revolution' it starts out saying

'To the mighty star, to all its people, to the mankind And to all true believers'

What is the mighty star? Metaphor for Communism? Israel ? The song later talks about a leader with a dream preaching forgiveness, is that jesus? But then it talks of him preaching withs barrels of guns.. so by things like this in their songs I think its great that they are up for interpretation, because it means that their lyrics can be something that everyone can relate to.

mmm, maybe you are right, but from my point of view, if they wrote that, it has to have some meaning, i dont see how's possible to speak about serious stuff, leaving to the other the interpretation of your ideas.

It can't be hard, but not impossible... a lot of experimental movies have that kind of expression. Why not with the music?

Well assuming that's the case, and there isn't a concrete meaning in kalmah lyrics, im going to remake my question: From your point of view, which is the political position of kalmah?

I'm very sorry. But I can't answer to that question because I haven't look at their lyrics too carefully.. I just wanted to quote you to know what did you meaned with "The concrete meaning of their lyrics"

I use to look at the lyrics.. I don't know why I don't do it with Kalmah xD

Yeah I did when I downloaded it I thought it was just going to be the normal version but it had 10 songs not 9. The torrent I used to download it is gone now for some reason but...? It's getting a little harder to get albums before they are released now cause not as many people put them on the internet before the release date as used to.

just wondering would it be possible to just upload that track somewhere?

The solo for The Blind Leader is so fukking intense and always makes me headbang constantly when it comes on, actually that whole song is one top song to bang along to damn that opening riff is strong eh

I feel exactly he same, but with the s/t song from the album "They Will Return"
That solo that sounds almost like a riff is just fucking great... Pure energy that song.
I think my favorite albums are the first 2 ones.

The song They Will Return is the same also, it has a killer intro riff and the whole song is just blinding with an excellent solo Antti Kokko is so fukking good at what he does and his leads are always so fluid and so clean sounding, some of his best ones are on For The Revolution like For The Revolution, Wings Of Blackening and Outremer (damn that song is fukking good eh, the intro just kicks your ass and it never lets up once).

I said, Outremer is the best song on the album!

Absolutely, Outremer is so amazing! I also really like Ready For Salvation which is more calm and slow than any other Kalmah songs, I like that different approach very much!

Yeah, "For the Revolution" has really been a pleasant surprise to me! I always like Kalmah, but never thought they'd come out with such a memorable CD after so many releases. The first four tracks are so solid, it took me a good month to listen to the rest of the album!! There are some killer riffs on this CD - so many bands in this genre can't write a good riff to save their life, but Kalmah have managed to write so many I can't keep track of them all. Great CD, and thankfully released in the US (as of August) now

Yeah well im not sure if i'll buy ''For the Revolution''... if it sounds like ''The Black Waltz'' then it doesn't deserve my attention.
I feel like they changed alot from ''Swampsong'' to ''The Black Waltz''.. its my opinion. I prefered the first three albums really.

I like the new album, but thus far it has failed to hit me like their previous albums. The Black Waltz is my favorite album, but I like all the others a good deal. It's nice to see their sound is still in place for the new album, but as usual I cannot explain what exactly I don't like about it.

I don't think you can question the quality of Kalmah. They're probably the most consistent band on the planet. Release after release of top notch melodic death. They certainly didn't disappoint with 'For the Revolution' and the song 'Outremer' has to be one of my favourite songs by them. Now all I wish is for them to play some gigs in the UK.
