It would be unlike Leprous to exercise restraint to the point of diminishment and place limitations on fresh efforts. Nonetheless, The Congregation is a compromise.

May be a matter of taste. Like I said, I don't think he needs to be replaced or anything. I just don't find his singing to be very interesting. In fact, I find it boring and far from majestic. We were bound to disagree on something eventually

Everything's a matter of taste when it comes to melody I think. I definitely find it odd that you consider his vocal style to be boring. He's among some of the most theatrical vocalists of all time

Don't worry. He has a really poor understanding of music, so don't take it personally. This is another gem from Leprous.

One should never question a fellow metalhead's musical taste.
The album is quite good . I am going to give more spins to this.

Here is the pattern on each listen for every single friggin Leprous album so far:

hate (wtf iz dis shit) > hate (nope dis iz no go) > dislike (some songs are good but why not all?) > meh (it's not THAT bad, but come on, previous album was sooooo good) > intrigue (how did I listen to this album the first time.. it's not that bad) > like (it's almost as good as the rest of em, good job boys) > HAIL (OH SHITTINGZ SHENANIGANZ I CAN'T STOP LISTENING SOMEONE HIT THE STOP BUTTON I WANT TO HEAR OTHER ALBUMS TOO)

That's why I knew what to expect on he first listen, and looped the whole album couple times immediately

That's kind of true but did not work like that with Bilateral for me --> still at the meh stage after many-many listens.

As for the new one, after the first listen I am at hate, but I do like "The Price" (liked it since hearing it for the first time as a single).

Well, I definitely need to give it more spins before I go all out giving it a 10, but this one is definitely holding up with Bilateral and Coal for me so far, which speaks a lot about its quality, so it might just be on its way there.

Everything just feels on point... When about half the album is tracks which you consider to be absolute 10/10s (Rewind, The Flood, Slave, Moon, Lower) and the rest also have plenty going for them, there's just little left to the mind about how to feel about this album. Even Red, which was the one track I really had an issue with upon my first listen, feels much less stretched out than I'd initially assumed. And when the worst you can give any individual track from an album is a "7/10" then it must have done something right.

Coal didnt really stuck with me after a few listons but, judging on these high scores and elaborated opinions, I'll be checking it later.

What Coal was missing, this album completes. Their best record is still Bilateral, but The Congregation is the second best.

The whole album has these rough electronic sounds that set an amazing atmosphere.

Leprous manages to surprise you with the most interesting and original melodies you ever heard in prog metal.

And the drumming is just fantastic.

Oh boy... If these guys pull this one off, they may just officially become my all-time favourite band. I mean, that would make 4 absolute top-level albums in a row, and I don't think there's another band out there which has really done that for me.

It's needless to say I'm rather hyped/nervous for this album, but I'm gonna still wait for it with a level head.

I have a humble question if the album wasn't released yet by the time you wrote this comment why do you rate it? ratings should be real and genuine as much as possible, I have the album since yesterday and I'm listening to it for a couple of days to be able to rate it but so far it is another masterpiece by a great band.

Uh... I hadn't rated it back then?
I only just rated the album today, after numerous listens so that I could make up my mind. (Relate to my most recent comment for proof) Once you rate it though, that rating is placed on all your comments on the album's page, including the ones you made prior to release.

It's actually impossible to rate an album on MS before release; same for any other music-ratings site.

The second half of the album is where it really shines. Never cared much for this band before now, but this is some quality prog. "Slave" is probably my favorite track on here.

Surprisingly, through my first two listens I haven't yet found a song that particularily stands out to me to become the instant favourite, such as The Valley did for me in the previous album. But what I can say is that this is a thouroughly enjoyable listen all the way through. No boring moment at all. It will take me some more time to discover the intimacies in this album that will really touch me. And I'm sure I will find them. What a great effort!

Yep, no questionable melodies to be found whatsoever. Thoroughly entertaining, even if it's slightly disappointing relative to Coal. It still rounds up to a 9.

I also found a lot of Tool in their older works, but only by far less good than Tool

It's weird. I'm not too sure what to feel about this. It feels... unnatural. It sounds too calculated? Too mechanical? I dunno. I feel songs take calculated paths and sharp turns rather than to just flow naturally, which is how older Leprous albums felt (for the most part). Still trying to get to grips with it. Though I still find Rewind to be fantastic and one of the more "natural" sounding songs.
