Okay I did a search and I didn't find any topics like this. This thread is about those local bands in your hometown that haven't gotten known yet (all genres are welcome). And please don't just list the bands. Give us a link to a website, or to some mp3s if it's possible and let's have a discussion here. This is a good way to discover new and unknown bands. I'll start.

I'm from Regina SK, Canada and of course Into Eternity is the best band from here IMO. However we do have a few other good bands. One is "Itchy Stitches" which is a death/thrash metal band(???) with a female lead vocalist. http://www.myspace.com/itchystitches.

The Orchard is another band and they are probably the biggest local band here (except for Into Eternity). I've seen them live twice before and they put on a pretty good show. You can hear a couple of their tracks on their myspace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=65073383

The last band that I can think of for the moment is a pagan black metal band called "Wold". Their music has some noise/industrial elements and they are rather interesting. Their official site is here:http://wold.cjb.net/

Not a lot of metal around Fredericton, New Brunswick... It's in Canada... Which is in North America.... Which is on Earth..... Which is in Canada. I only know a couple from around here which are Celeta, and Haight (the greatest band in the world... not unknown, just very underground. Don't try looking for them, they are very underground.) Yeah, there's no popular bands from around here at all.

Well, besides a lot of local Metalcore bands, over the years I've only found a couple of bands that are (were) from my home area of Kansas City. As I live in a suburb of KC, I'll count those bands as being from my home. Those which pop to mind are Angelcorpse, Order From Chaos, Ares Kingdom, and yeah, that's pretty much it. They actually share members I think and Angelcorpse actually moved, OFC disbanded, and AK are the only remaining. Woohoo! Go my world!

this is my band Acantha. we're from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. kind of progressive/thrash/death/melodic metal. we're working on our full length album and hope to have it out by spring 2008!

Yeah I think I saw you guys opening for Verbal D at Mac Hall in Calgary (was it Super Metal Melee? or the show at Mac Hall a few months previous with Red Tide and OWM? I cant remember), either way, I do remember seeing you guys.

Divinity (from Calgary) recently got signed to Nuclear Blast! Thats pretty big. They recently got added here on MS so I dont think I need to post a link if anyones actually interested.

I'm not really sure...
But I heard that Marduk is from Norrköping, the town that I live right now...

When I lived in Santiago, Chile... The first name is Criminal of course...
I'm not sure if Mar De Grises, Coprofago and Poema Arcanus are from Santiago... But it's quite possible since it's always easy to record the stuff in the capital xD

Looks like lots of people have BIG bands from their area (or original area, whatever). Marduk, aye?

Where I was born (New Mexico), there are NO bands of any interest there....
San Angelo, Texas has VEX and Demonstruction, at least I like Demonstruction.

Now I live in an "Espedal, Norway" type region in Germany. There are NO bands in this village, but here are bands in the Wetterau region.

-OLD (German "Celtic Frost" like black metal)
-Escalation Unit Chaos Engine ( "MACHINEcore"- Thrash/Death with machine influence, haha, Henric is great)
-Eternal Pain (death metal)

here are a few links, good luck and enjoy!

Of the top of my head there are two good ones. There's HMP (I think there from Seattle). A good thrash band that I saw live with Exodus earlier in the year. and In Memorium. In Memorium are a very cool black metal band. I saw them live when I saw Agalloch again earlier this year

Yes. Here in Norrköping we do have Marduk. We also have Ofermod, Nefandus and Sargatanas Reign to brag about.

We don't have much of an underground scene though. I know of one death metal band called Castimonia which is active in town. They pretty much suck on record, but they're a lot better live and have a very talented drummer and guitarist (they're actually a good and entertaining live band). Aside from that, I've come across a band called Farbrorrundgång, which I really don't know how to describe... They pretty much mostly seem to fuck around with instruments. I've also seen concert flyers featuring a supposed metal band called Svarth, but I've had no success in tracking that band down.

Linköping (the neighbouring town) has a much better scene with a lot more bands. They've got Axewitch, which makes the scene awesome instantly. There's also a lot more shows in Linköping. I managed to catch Lord Belial there, which was great.

There's quite a few punk bands though... Too bad most of them suck (though one of them called Dead Raped Children is quite entertaining).

Yeah... I went to a little gig with about 4 punk bands with a friend who was punk and I didn't know anything about them.

But when it ended I was like: "Dude... who do you like this shit?"

In my hometown aren't metal bands at all, just few new rock bands of which I personally know one, just because of my friends who are in this band. Although, maybe we have a veeery underground metal band about which I don't know anything (It wouldn't be a surprise). Actually, once I saw three or four guys, looking like metalheads and walking somewhere with their guitars.
