Gear is perfectly fine for small incline. I park that way at home for 16 years. And I don't park on steep incline anyway, nobody should unless no other way.
Okay I did a search and I didn't find any topics like this. This thread is about those local bands in your hometown that haven't gotten known yet (all genres are welcome). And please don't just list the bands. Give us a link to a website, or to some mp3s if it's possible and let's have a discussion here. This is a good way to discover new and unknown bands. I'll start.
I'm from Regina SK, Canada and of course Into Eternity is the best band from here IMO. However we do have a few other good bands. One is "Itchy Stitches" which is a death/thrash metal band(???) with a female lead vocalist. http://www.myspace.com/itchystitches.
The last band that I can think of for the moment is a pagan black metal band called "Wold". Their music has some noise/industrial elements and they are rather interesting. Their official site is here:http://wold.cjb.net/
I actually live about 15 minutes from where Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth lives.
Man its awesome man, in what area he lives, what calls suburb?
Well I had seen soem Duscfall members and some other inactive Luleå metal band members hang around , I know where Hells Angesl MC tattoo centre is located in Luleå

I live in Edmonton(Canada). Most known bands here are Faunts(indie),Social Code(alternative/pop punk) and Tupelo Honey(rock/pop punk).Metal music scene is pretty weak here.
Here in Minneapolis, we have a band signed recently to Metal Blade records, EPICUREAN http://www.myspace.com/epicurean
Kinda symphonic, pretty damn good!
Work with a guy from the band NAILED SHUT http://www.myspace.com/nailedfuckingshut
They tour regionally and kick ass!

Old enough to be your Daddy... speaking of which... you look familiar... do I know your mother???
I live a half hour or so away from where Nicko McBrain lives. His son goes to West Boca high school. So i would assume he lives in Boca. Oh and its in Florida, forgot to mention that. Ah and he's actually opening a restaurant in Boca, or so i've heard, me and my friends are going to try and go there as soon as possible.
I live in what is known at the Masshole. We have: Revocation, Razormaze, Panzer Bastard, Candy Striper Death Orgy, Composted, Sexcrement, Elder, Black Pyramid, many great bands that I neglected to mention.

If you never wake up from a dream does it become reality?
The best local band from my hometown is Merlin's Beard, they have an EP on itunes now. They are a thrash/ classic metal band.

Nervecell - They are the top band in the Middle East right now. If you live in Europe, perhaps you have heard of them or seen them. Perversion - They are also a killer band. You might've checked their recent "feud" with Steve Tucker of Morbid Angel. Don't listen to that guy, they really kill it. Absolace - Prog band. If you're into Tool and Porcupine Tree and that, they might fit in well. They're relatively new, but very popular. Anuryzm - Another new Prog band who are growing popular within the scene. Midway - These guys are the most popular band for the younger crowds. They play Melodic Hardcore, so if that's your thing, go for it. EYE - A Progressive/Post-Rock/Experimental band. One of my favorites. They have a killer live show with crazy visuals and all sorts of shit. Billy Bob's Blood Drenched Brew - This is my band. We play a blend of extreme metal we like to call "Brew Metal". Like us and tell us what you think!
These are probably the top bands in Dubai right now.
Well the albany/capital district of new york area has contributed a decent amount to the metal scene, mostly death metal. Skinless and Mucopus are both from there and Jason Keyser, former skinless vocalist, is now the lead vocalist of Origin. But sadly, I don't live in albany anymore. Probably the most successful thing to come out of Concord, New hampshire was this band called Jamantics. Probably not anyone on this board's cup of tea, but they were some talented musicians. Manchester has some metal, but I'm new to NH, so I don't know the scene at all. I have been working with this dude on a sludge metal project but we're still looking for a drummer and bassist. When we're more legit I'll probably post something here.
I'm looking for Melodic Metal fans and sharing my project SINMATTIC, a Portuguese female-fronted band. We really want to take this as far as possible, so we need as many listeners as we can find. Hope you can give us a listen, and if you think we're worthy of attention, give us a like or share. Thanks in advance!
There's not really any noteworthy ones in my town, but neighboring towns have some decent acts.
There's one in Norman called Dethrone Humanity, they're not bad for a death/thrash high school band. There's also a power thrash band in OKC called Forte, they released a decent album this year.
Here in South Australia we got some well known bands that have formed nearby:
Mournful congregation: Funeral doom: just simply one of the best in the genre atm
Virgin Black: nice gothic/doom operatic mix with Rowan London amazing as the vocalist. The band had the Adelaide symphony orchestra to provide the operatics on the last 2 records.
There would be more but those are the two bands people here would recognize most.
There aren't really any established bands from my hometown... just a bunch of indie rock outfits comprised of high school dropouts and university students looking for a way to get rid of some stress. We have a lot of indie/scene/hipster kids here so the music is pretty much reflective of their personal tastes...
There aren't any metal bands, really. A couple hard rock. hardcore, and deathcore bands here and there, but nothing worthwhile.

Don't know if you guys are already familiar with Insurrection. But its from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. An awesome Technical Death Metal act They sing both in english and french. Right now they have 2 studio albums and working on a third one as we speak I saw them 3 times in concert, pretty sick shit. You can find them on Metalstorm if you need some sick tech death look em' up. Or try their myspace/website.
Well, he scene here is really strong as most of the well known Greek bands come from around here.

Rest In Peace: Bon Scott, Dave G. Halliday, Michael "Destructor" Wulf, Jerry Fogle, Quorthon, Witchhunter
There are about 6 bands from my hometown listed in Encyclopedia Metallum, but none of them are notable.
The most famous musicians from where I live are probably Geri Halliwell and Elton John. The most famous ones who play 'heavy music' are Gallows. But as for anyone that people here actually care about, I live a fairly short drive away from the birthplace of Porcupine Tree.
EDIT: Oh, and Deep Purple are a little further away.
