Hell Awaits hands down... That album is actually evil. It sounds evil at least for me and it has some progressives touches in it that are brilliant. Good stuff. Their pre-RiB is awesome.

Went with South of Heaven. The album is just solid from beginning to end. But Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits, and Reign in Blood are extremely good albums too.

In my opion all their first five are pretty good. Show No Mercy: Was a pretty cool thrashy punkish metal album. Hell Awaits: Brings out a progressive side of Slayer, never to be seen again. Reign in Blood: This album is total fucking carnage, trapped on a disc. South of Heaven: Great mid-tempo stuff, Dave can even rip the kit at slower speeds. Seasons in the Abyss: Combines the previous two, so you get some mid-tempo stuff, mixed with more carnage.

SHOW NO MERCY!!! What's not to like? It has the aggression of a hardcore album, the awesome satanic verses of an early venom release, and the pure animosity of thrash. It's a win, win, WIN!

Well if you attend to significance, they will be their debut showing no mercy to current metal scene and helping to create the ambiance for Death and most savage Thrash. Reign in blood was the consecration of their style, their climax and it is amazing in every sense, but.....fuck I like more Seasons in the Abyss: the slow and middle tempo songs there are simply beautiful and the lyrics are also impressive.

This was a definite gimme. Reign in Blood is the best among great albums. Slayer has been solid and all their releases have been worth listening to.

Well.. i think every slayers album is awesome .. but if i had to chose one , it would be RiB 1 : Reign in Blood i cant decide whos on 2, 3, 4 .....so ill just put them all  2 : Show no mercy, Season, South, Hell, Chapel, CI, GHUA... and man.. what the hell.. the guy that voted for CI as best Slayer album o.O .. dude go listen to every album and then come back and talk about Slayers best album

Seasons in the Abyss for me. Has also crazy tempo that Slayer are known for and also mid-tempo. Much more varied than RIB, you can actualy recognize when one song has been end and another one has started. Great catchy riffs with insane solos, dark and brutal lyrics and creative drumming. Slayer at their best .
