Dark Tranquillity - Guitarist Martin Henriksson Quits

Gothenburg sons Dark Tranquillity are facing a major line-up change. They just lost their founding member Martin Henriksson. From 1989 to 1998, he played bass in the band and then switched to guitar. The charismatic guitarist amicably left the band a couple of months ago after he lost the passion for playing music. The band is currently putting the finishing touches on the material for their next album.

Here is Martin's statement: "Dear Dark Tranquillity fans, I recently quit the band. I feel I have lost the passion for playing music, and Dark Tranquillity deserves to have members that are 100% committed to the art. Therefore I decided it's in everyone's best interest to step aside and leave the band with the best possible ability to grow and get even stronger. I've had 26 years filled with wonderful memories and we made a lot of great music together, and for that I'm forever grateful. Thanks to all the fans, crew and other people involved that supported Dark Tranquillity through the years! Yours, Martin Henriksson."

Jivarp had quite a few main writing credits on Construct, actually.

Really sad, I like him a lot.

Oh, well. At least he was honest. No bassist and now one guitarist down. Don't know what to expect from the new record.

Wow, that's too bad. But if this is true, this is the single most graceful exit to a band member ever. No arguing, fighting, just respectable musicians.

While it was weaker than the previous albums, I wouldn't call it garbage. It had really good songs, but only a few. But I bet even "Fiction" was garbage for you?

I thought it was absolutely not listenable! It made my head hurt from the lack of cohesion and structure.

Since "Projector" I have listened and loved all albums of DT. Don't understand how you can say that some of these albums are garbage. The day you manage to make such "garbage" you can feel proud of yourself, until then...
