Stream Of Passion - Disbanding, To Record Farewell DVD

Sadly for their fans, Stream Of Passion have announced today that they are calling it quits at the end of the year to pursue other musical projects. Since their inception in 2005, the Dutch symphonic metallers released four albums, A War Of Our Own (2014) being their latest. Now they are saying goodbye but will do farewell shows before and record a DVD. So, make the best of it!

Their statement: "Dear friends and fans, over the past eleven years we've had the time of our lives playing in stages all over the world and sharing moments of joy on stage. But all good things come to an end, and we feel it's time to move on and search for new musical challenges. We're proud of everything we've achieved, with your help, and we want to end the band history on a high note instead of losing focus, interest and drive. Before parting ways as a band we will perform a few goodbye shows; we also want to record a DVD to serve as a memento of the good times we've had."

Dates are as follows:

- Aug 26, 2016: Zebra Festival, Gemert (NED)
- Sep 02, 2016: P60, Amstelveen (NED) (DVD recording)
- Sep 07, 2016: ProgPower USA XVII, Atlanta GA (USA)
- Oct 13, 2016: Underworld, London (UK)
- Oct 14, 2016: Bierkeller, Bristol (UK)
- Oct 15, 2016: Classic Grand, Glasgow (UK)
- Oct 16, 2016: Robin 2, Bilston (UK)

They add: "We're also looking into adding an extra, final show towards the end of the year; more details to follow. Once again, we'd like to express our eternal gratitude for the support you've given us all these years. All of us will continue to make music, one way or the other; so we still hope to see you soon on a stage near you. Thank you for being part of the wonderful adventure that has been Stream Of Passion! Marcela, Johan, Eric, Steve, Jeffrey, Martijn."

Well, we are due to see them at Robin 2, which will (almost) be their final gig... a great shame, but I think they were running out of steam.
----
First gig was Manowar (loincloths 'n' all), Bristol Colston Hall in March 1983, on the 'Hail to England' tour. Tickets were £3.75, 300 in the audience, Mercyful Fate never showed, but my hearing still got seriously trashed..

I remember when the first album came out, but it wasn't very mind blowing, never followed them after.

Maybe a good decision, their last album was pretty boring and uninspired, it feels like listening to Tarja after she left Nighwish...

I have always wanted to like this band. Their songs just never get going.

Should never have lasted beyond Lucassen and Linstruth's departure. If there was one thing the metal world didn't need in 2007, it was another female-fronted Dutch symphonic metal band.
