Orphaned Land - Announce New Concept Album, 25th Anniversary Tour

Century Media Records just confirmed the upcoming concept album by Oriental metal masters Orphaned Land, Kna'an! It is a side project album with Amaseffer's Erez Yohanan, which covers up the biblical story of Kna'an, in the eyes of Walter Wayers, after he wrote a modern-perspective play about the story of Abraham in the land of Kna'an.

Here is the official announcement: "Kna'an is a project that was born in the head of the Memmingen's Landestheater director - Walter Wayers. Wayers wrote a complete new play with his modern perspective about the familiar biblical story of Abraham in the land of Kna'an and was looking for someone to fit in writing the soundtrack and songs for this purpose. That's how a co-production between Kobi Farhi (Orphaned Land) and Erez Yohanan (Amaseffer) was born.

"Kobi & Erez, with the help of Orphaned Land's members, composed this special soundtrack consisting ballads and metal songs about all the characters and inner conflicts of the heroes in this complex episode, a story that still reflects till this day the three Abrahamic religions."

Kna'an will be released through Century Media Records on August 26th, 2016.

Century Media Records also included information on the upcoming Orphaned Land European tour, which celebrates the band's 25 years of activity. Orphaned Land will be touring throughout November 2016, along with special guests - Voodoo Kungfu and Imperial Age. See the dates and attend one their special concerts!

Cool, I was just wondering about when we would hear from this band again. Didn't care that much for their latest album though so hoping for something a bit different.

I don't see what's new here, it's kind of their thing... Almost everything they've released is about religion in one way or another and they already did a concept album (Mabool) about the flood and unity between Abrahamic religions. Orphaned Land are more about promoting peace and not some kind of preaching band.

...but this isn't truly a new Orphaned Land album, or is it?

It sounds like it's just a collaboration to do a soundtrack.

Curious to see what they come up with. It seems like a side project but also with members of OL. We'll see.

Whatever you say. Just know that they have done a lot more than most people when it comes to bringing people from conflicting cultures together.

I will never be tolerant towards religion. It had it´s legimitation back then when we were even more primitive then we are today. But those times are long gone, and it´s time we drop the makebelieve bullshit. It is hindering our progress as a species. If they were about humanism that would be a completely different story alltogether.

What role do you think your attitude in this matter plays when it comes to striving for more peace and understanding between humans?

My attitude plays no role, neither does yours or anyones in this matter. It is a cute endeavour by the band, to rise a "Unity through music" project with a palestinian band. But do you really think this will matter in the big picture? Religion is the greatest pillar of cultural differences in human history. With inane rules created by inane minds to rule over even dumber minds. Eliminate Religion, foster humanism, and maybe, there will be peace one day. Until then, well just watch the news...
