Intro | New | Edge.. The playlists are just insane for music discovery. Just click on the two arrows on the right of a genre's name to access the details page of that genre and the playlists links.
Did you guys ever hear of everynoise ? A former SPotify employee built a whole website based on genres added to artists. One can navigate all genres, see the related genres, and the best is there are a few playlists for each genre
I was shocked when I noticed that no one created a topic on Wintersun it is so strange because this band is one of the best I know...they have just released one album but this album is fucking masterpiece,
I like their songs "Death and the Healing" and "Beautiful Death" they are great songs and this band is Idol for me.
I wouldn't even compare these two bands. And no, i don't like Bal-Sagoth.
It was just something related to drums.
Personally, I prefer Bal-Sagoth by far to Wintersun. At least Bal-Sagoth is original and don't really sound like any other band. Wintersun is only generic Powermetal music with some harsh vocals and a few blastbeats thrown in. Nearly as overrated as current Iron Maiden.

Couldn't agree more with that.
It's nice to see that we agree on something, as we usually disagree.

They shake your hand and they smile and they buy you a drink
They say we'll be your friends we'll stick with you till the end
But everybody's only looking out for themselves
And you say who can you trust I'll tell you nobody
I don't know why people need to fight over what genre to label a band as. I find wintersun to make great music regardless if it's Melo Death or Power metal.
Jari is a pretty great musician IMO. He's not Devin Townsend or anything but he's made his mark on my musical spectrum.

"The bands called Demon Hunter! They hunt demons!"

There is a first for everything lol, well...not really.
Even I agree with RavenKing that Bal-Sagoth are better - and especially more original - than Wintersun
Having more than just one excellent album does make it easier for a band to grow on you, even though Atlantis Ascendant was uninspired and kind of boring. The kind of songwriting, where you can almost hear the band members whispering: "We don't really want to be doing this anymore" on the background.
There doing a few festivals, Metalcamp, Bloodstock, Graspop. Which makes me wonder, is it soon?
Jari had a live chat at Metalcamp site some weeks ago and he said that even he don't know when the album will be finish. Since he have problem that there is no 64-bit plugins to Cubase 6. You can read some of the questions that were asked over here and the answers ofc http://www.wintermadness.net/messageboard/viewtopic.php?p=21719&highlight=#21719
Yeah, Wintersun did a few shows and they played a new song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naQ31iAS1fA
The sound quality isn't at its best, but we can get an idea. This song is insanely good, but we can't clearly hear all the melodies that make us like Wintersun. Of course, Wintersun has always been more a studio band, so I just can't wait to hear the studio version. (Which is probably not mixed yet lol.)
Sounds less inspired than most of the stuff on the debut to me. Basically, substituting "trick" with "album" and "pony" with "band", Wintersun seem to be a one trick pony. It was a pretty good trick, but I'm not sure I'd care to see it again. I guess we'll live and hear.

I could say that about half the bands in your favorites list ... just sayin.
I listened to parts of the two new tracks but am going to wait for the album to drop to fully listen, Ive waited this long I can wait a few more months.. The new style reminds me of Whispered a bit..
Isn't it funny that a band with one album has a thread with like 700 posts and some bands who's been playing for decades with very solid discographies have less posts?
