Sigur Rós is one of the most amazing bands I have ever heard. With every listen, I notice I am short of breath. It's hard to describe the emotions when listening to these guys. There music is simply so beautiful they must have a thread. My favorite album is () with my favorite songs being Starálfur, Untitled #3 (Samskeyti), Untitled #8 (Popplagið) and Sæglópur!!! Let me know what you think!!

In fact, even in albums like Takk... I always feel a slight sad tone in their music, which is probably one of the things that caught my attention in the beginning.
That's something I don't like from the first half of Med Sud i Eyrum, its "happy" sort of sound. Like they were trying to approach to a new fanbase. Luckily Festival and Ara Batur came to scene.

Anyway, a good thing for them is that they sing in icelandic (or Jónsi's made up language), language that the average Sigur fan has no idea of, so you can only focus on the music and the mind trip they get you into, instead of lyrics, rythm and that kind of stuff, like if you were hearing Coldplay.

That "happy & sweet" part of the album isn't that long to be honest. Just the first 2 tracks and the fourth one. I actually like them a lot. Okay, the first one is just okayish but the second and fourth songs are hella fun, specially the second one. Hard to not smile with that one.

Don't they have a new album out? Or compilation or something?

Saw them live in New York on March. One of the most amazing experiences of my life. If anyone ever has the chance to see them live, please do, you won't be disappointed.

The EP precedes a full-length album, which is due out June 17th (leaked already).

Just listened to the whole album and I need a couple of more listens but this might be their best since Takk or even ( ). Definitely up there with their classic albums.

I like it. Then again, I rather liked Valtari's more ambient moments too. In fact, I seem to be rather unorthodox in that I find their bombastic ( ) - Með suð era the most unappealing, stylistically. Granted, Takk especially has some catchy songs.

I actually only now heard Von. I didn't even realize they had a proper LP out before Aegetis (easily the best album). I don't know why it's so underrated and unknown, it's really quite good. A lot more droney and conventionally post-rock than their later work, with none of the cheese.

How is ( ) bombastic? Except for the last track I consider it too calm to have a word like bombastic attached to it. For some reason I couldn't get into Valtari and considered it a snorefest for the most part.

You may be right that it's a sloppy description. Nonetheless I lump it together with Takk's sentimental, vocal-driven songs that build up quite an emotional load. There's something colder and more detached about the first two.

Aaaaah yeah, now I got it. I agree with your comment about the first two. Definitely a colder approach. It's been a while since I gave their debut a decent listening so I might get to that soon.
