In mourning would be another possible candidate for the list.

Katatonia for sure. Even my least favorite album Night is the New Day is above average.
I think Mayhem and Emperor don't have a bad album in their career either.
Watain too. And in their own way My Dying Bride as well. Sure 34.788%... Complete was different and A Line of Deathless Kings the least exciting album ever, but again they're not bad albums.
And finally, Symphony X and Nevermore.

Well, it seems Textures heven't been cited yet... But all their albums are certainly good (even Polars), and some could be considered 10/10 material depending on whom you ask (Drawing Circles, Silhouettes)

And all those bands have albums that are on par with or even worse than Cold Lake, imo.

Kinda surprised with Practice What You Preach tbh. I can definitely see why Demonic (not a fan of that one either) and The Ritual would be seen as weaker Testament albums. Souls Of Black... well that's not a bad album imo, just pretty damn average and overall quite forgettable (except maybe the title track).

testament have only released one and a half good to great albums, imo. The Legacy and half of The New Order. The rest is average at best.

Oh wow. I seem to like a few more of their albums then.

I even slightly prefer the gathering over those 2 tbh. Though it's pretty close between those 3 for me.

In solitude is worth a mention here. They only did three albums but I feel each album was better as they progressed. They even finished their career on a high note.

Anaal Nathrakh in my opinion. They play it pretty safe but that's not a bad thing.

People hate on Desideratum but I enjoy it much more than Passion and maybe a bit more than Vanitas

How do we define "bad"? Is it bands with albums that all measure up to the same high bar? Or bands with albums that are all at least above average? Here are bands for which I legitimately enjoy all of their albums:

Bolt Thrower
Insomnium
Moonsorrow
Death
Testament
Dark Tranquillity
Amon Amarth
Dark Fortress
Agalloch
Mastodon
Equilibrium

I could give a bigger list of non-metal bands but for that I'll just go with The Beatles.

For metal/hard rock, I would go with Led Zeppelin (even Coda was listenable), Death, Tool, Coroner, Alice In Chains, Rage Against The Machine, Stormtroopers of Death, Sabbat (yes its a separate band from BS), Nirvana
