Posted a small link for this a while back but think I might have overlooked it. Kinda industrial-y, sludge-y djent? If Meshuggah went sludge, I dunno. Heavy and good.

Bits and pieces.

Pretty fun black and roll / punk black metal. Simple but effective. Vocals remind me of the Meads a little.




Solid mix of traditional doom and Electric Wizard worship.




Decent, messy hardcore / black metal hybrid.




Nice, aggressive but modern black metal.




This album is fun, and heavy and nasty. In a way it has qualities of slammy, brutal death metal, but it isn't quite that. They describe themselves as hardcore / doom / sludge metal, and I guess I could go with that. The downtuned vocals are rather satisfying.




And yet another example of fine Polish black metal craftmanship.

Teaser of a new project by Camille from Smohalla and Stagnant Waters (which are also releasing a new album this year, hooray). Weird as ever psychoblack.

Woo, sequel to the awesome Abyssal Vacuum EP last year.

New deafheaven track, more raw and harsh than their usual approach. Almost had to double check the name to make sure it is not a new band under the same name.

^ Shame that's only a one-off. Much better than their usual stuff.

Basically punk in a black metal uniform. Fun.

This is some fairly sick, wacky avant-garde / mathcore stuff. Not too heavy on the aggression, but lots of off-kilter goodness.

Angry as fuck, quite dissonant black metal with some experimental tendencies.

Very pleasing sludge doom with some drone qualities. This one differentiates itself by having a sort of faded quality about it. The vocals in particular sound like they were recorded a mile away in a misty bog.

Some really good thrash metal from Bulgaria.

A bit of a weird band in terms of line-up. They have 8 bandmembers... and 4 of them are lead guitarists?!?! How many lead guitarists can you possibly need?

And then there are 2 other guitarists (because why not... I suppose). One of them is a multi-instrumentalist so he also plays drums and bass... oh and he does the vocals as well.

So if you look at their line-up they have 2 people that drum, 2 people who play bass and 6 guitarists on this album... I don't know what is going on here but the result is a good thrash record.

Maybe that's what they're aiming for. Being the Glenn Branca for thrash metal. Tbh I'm only familiar with Symphony 13 from Glenn Branca but from what I remember that's with 100 guitars. So in that case only 92 more to go.

That's unfortunate. It sucks when you get into the instrumental part of an album to then hear vocals you don't like.

Like I said, I personally like them and think they fit well. A nice balance between grit and clarity in his voice imo.

Epic black metal from Sweden. A bit too much Behemoth-y.

....and another one from both artists� Swartadaupuz + Chaos Moon. Wouldnt rec it if it sounded ass though.

New super group of sorts featuring Matron Thorn, Mories, H V Lyngdal, Kabukimono and Jarle Byberg. Sounds heavily close to the works of Matron Thorn followed by Lyngdal than all the others.


And there's a new Ola Englund solo album coming on the way as well.

Atmospheric, blackened Lord Mantis.

This sounds like it's basically an album of mid-era Akercocke's psyche non-death metal parts. I'm good with that.

Obscuring Veil

Finally listened to it, and yeah, it's way too Matron Thorn-y. Not bad I guess.

Second part of IER's ghosts trilogy already out. Not so black metal as the first album, this is more experimental mixing a lot of genres along the 43 minute main track.
