1. An Isolated Mind - I'm Losing Myself
A fascinating post- journey through despair and void
2. Andavald - Undir Skyggðarhaldi
Impressive debut, Icelandic sound, absolutely menacing though slowed down
3. Árstíðir Lífsins - Saga Á Tveim Tungum I: Vápn Ok Viðr
Ferocity and melody, folk without folk, viking not too viking
4. Blood Incantation - Hidden History Of The Human Race
More than justified hype, DM at the highest levels of ambition
5. Cattle Decapitation - Death Atlas
Abused formula? Doesn't matter if the results are this good...
6. Cult Of Luna - A Dawn To Fear
To repete oneself without being repetitive, thanks to the quality of the songwriting
7. Deathspell Omega - The Furnaces Of Palingenesia
The absolute masters, even when they sound a little more melodic
8. Drastus - La Croix De Sang
Gorgeous dissonant and hypnotic BM, top notch sound and songwriting
9. Gaahls Wyrd - GastiR - Ghosts Invited
The high priest of BM frightens even when he whispers
10. Haunter - Sacramental Death Qualia
Complex, varied, multifaceted: death is still alive
11. Hope Drone - Void Lustre
Post-metal, monumental yet refined and dramatic
12. Imperium Dekadenz - When We Are Forgotten
A nostalgic streak for a less malicious, but more charming BM
13. Inter Arma - Sulphur English
Among the most varied records of 2019, they do many things and do them all well
14. Lord Mantis - Universal Death Church
Virulent and dirty sludge metal, but also dynamic and surprisingly manifold
15. Mephorash - Shem Ha Mephorash
A long black ritual, rich and melodic
16. Misþyrming - Algleymi
Their change of direction has been very surprising, its greatness is even more so
17. Mord'A'Stigmata - Dreams Of Quiet Places
Polish BM at its highest levels, how the hell could everyone understimate this gem?
18. NEDXXX - NEDXXX
Pure folly, very intricate and difficult, but what an album!
19. Panzerfaust - The Suns Of Perdition - Chapter I: War, Horrid War
A voice from the underworld, when BM can be fierce without being hyper-fast
20. Schammasch - Hearts Of No Light
Apart from the high expectations, a great record; they're not tired of experimenting
21. Sinmara - Hvísl Stjarnanna
The most Icelandic among Icelanders, very dense and vigorous
22. Wormlust - Kosmískur Hryllingur [Collaboration]
Chaotic and bleak, two long compositions that dialogue with each other wonderfully
23. The Great Old Ones - Cosmicism
They're back from the other world, and they're so good at telling us about it
24. The Negative Bias - Narcissus Rising
Aggressive and at the same time preciously finished, a very ambitious BM album
25. Unfurl - The Waking Void
Post-hardcore? Post-death? Everything fits, with a plus of grind and sludge
26. Vacivus - Annihilism
Songwriting, sound, a feral voice: what else could we ask for in a DM record?
27. Vastum - Orificial Purge
OSDM masters, with a talent for songwriting and an amzaing consistency
28. Vous Autres - Champ Du Sang
Industrial, decadent, post-everything: but above all with great ideas
29. Warcrab - Damned In Endless Night
Slow and martial, cadenced death-doom that crushes everything
30. Waste Of Space Orchestra - Syntheosis
The mere idea of getting together deserves applause, if you then listen to the results...
