I was surprised not to find a thread about this band...

I have been listening to them ever since The Nocturnal Silence came out and their song The Nocturnal Silence was one of the first I ever learned to play on my first ever electric guitar...

Their latest album Hrimthursum is fantastic and I encourage any death metal fan to go and grab it!!

I thought there was already a Necrophobic thread !! The Nocturnal Silence is their best album in my opinion. I didn't like Hrimthursum that much. A very good swedish Death Metal band.
They sure deserve a thread here.

Good blackened death indeed... I bought Darkside many years ago and was a sucker for it for a while, but somehow forgot it somewhere and hadn't listened for ages.

So far I have 'The Third Antichrist' 'Nocturnal Silence' and 'Darkside' which are all excellent albums. Especially the first two, it very much has the essence swedish melodic black/death. Recommended....

Yeah dude! You are talking about the 'Nocturnal Silence' album, indeed it is a very good album.

Got me their demotape Unholy Prophecies couple of months ago for 30 fucking dollars but it was worth every cent, I prefer it over any other release by them, but their debut album is brilliant too of course. For some reason, I've never checked anything else by them, but the owner of my local metal shop praised their last album Hrimthursum as an fantastic release, I think I'm gotta check that one out a.s.a.p.

i've only heard the demotape i mentioned and their debut, and nothing about it was blackenend in my opinion.

okay, I had the impression during the gig and the artwork seems black metal as well.
but I removed their songs from my computer after a while, got bored of their sound

A really good melodic black/death metal band.
I like a lot "The Third Antichrist" and get it. Aabout other albums, I only listened few tracks from "Darkside" and their last effort "Hrimthursum", good albums too, by basing me on what I listened to.

Necrophobic is a GREAT band! i've not heard till now their new album but hrimthursum and nocturnal silence kill!!!! and yes they have black metal elements but also death... basically their vocals are more close to black imo...

Bro, check out Dark Side. It's favorite my album, it's sort of like Nocturnal Silence but a little faster/darker. New album isn't bad, but not amazing either. A step up from their previous imo.

yeah i'll also check their 2 middle releases. they seem to me a bit more black without that to be bad! imo hrimthursmum was great and to be honest i believe that the new will be a bit worse...

but the band doesn't consider themselves as death but as black/death.. check out their myspace...

Idk dude, tbh I don't remember hrimthursmum that much but this one isn't that bad either. It's not like their early releases but there are some memorable songs.

The new album is way better than Hrimthursum in my not so humble opinion. Sunioj is right, it's nothing like their early stuff, but as far as Swedish DM is concerned it's all very good. Great balance between melodies and aggression, without cheese And it has a lot (sorry, I should do it Marcel style: A LOT) of memorable moments.

Got one of their demos on cassette and a cd but I haven't dug it out of my chamber of cds in years....from what i remember they are like black/death.. they like reverb....

Necrophobic are signed by Season Of Mist and are going on tour with Morbid Angel and Benighted.
2 new members and hopefully another great album.

I didn't like their previous vocalist, but the still make excellent music nonetheless

Heard Spawned by Evil on the Black Mark Attack sampler back in the day and been a fan since. Think their a very underrated band.

Well, their newest albums seem to get them the attention they deserve finally. And I hope they continue with their re-issuing effort.

Anyways, below is the earliest live performance of them I could find on YouTube.
It's from 1994, so one year after their debut album was released. The vocalist Anders Strokirk has sadly at this point left the band, so the vocals are performed by the bass player Tobias Sidegård, who would be their main vocalist for many years. The guitarist David Parland seems to be there too before he left to play for Dark Funeral. The other guitarist on stage (according to the video description) is Martin Halfdan. But according to the line-up timeline here on MS, he only joined 1996. Maybe that info needs to be changed then?

Anyways, the video starts with an interview in Swedish (I presume). I don't speak any Swedish sadly. Maybe one of the Swedish Metalstormers could translate?

His last album "Dawn of the damned" is maybe his best album. Their al living his best moment. They are start to getting the recognition that they deserve after a lot of years working hard...as i walk through the gateway

Great band.

IMHO, love their 2018 "Mark of the Necrogram".
