I work in the trade and fuck i'm sick of sitting around at smoko hearing things like "bloody poof" or "bunch of fucking gays" been thrown around. Everybody is still so fucking homophobic in the trades, i think it's because everyone thinks there so macho.

One thing I think that's interesting is that in Jamaica homosexuality isn't illegal; male sodomy is. In fact the bible only references sodomy, it says nothing about lesbianism. It goes to show how the culture's view on homosexuality and masculinity is much different, for some reason they feel threatened by homosexuals. Anyway, lot's of reggae is homophobic to the point disgusting doesn't even begin to describe it. (The music is also disgusting, what happened to Bob Marley?)

Hah. I'm bisexual and people (at least those who know it, since I'm not the type of guy who loves to flaunt) are still baffled by my tastes, way more than I was during the first years of adolescence, when I discovered my tendencies.
I really don't get what all the fuss is about. Sounds like you must be either A or Z, there's no middle point.
I've heard so many questions and judgements about bisexuality that I'm really getting annoyed. The best ones:

I always found quite bizarre this attitude of some LGBT groups to have to proclaim around the world their choice and to auto-segregate themselves through clubs, parties, other places especially reserved for "their condition" and at the same time ask everyone not to discriminate them when they actually apply a form of discrimination to themselves.... :

If they want people to see them as everyone else, they shouldn't use sexual preference as a differentiation weapon. It mostly backfires on them, I think.

I think it's useless to say that, in some countries, people live with the idea that homosexuality is unnatural and shouldn't exist - of course mostly because of religion. In my country for example gays are still insulted, attacked and beaten even if they're just seen holding hands like all lovers do. There are also cases of suicide among young teenagers, or adults forced to get married with a woman and have children, but eventually they give up at the age of 40/50/60 and start searching for quick gay dates in those miserable chatrooms.

Auto-segregation is a natural (or better: social) form of defense, and it's often needed to express yourself a bit more quietly in places where you don't have to be afraid. Without this, an individual gay/bi/lesbian would find very hard (if not dangerous) to look for a partner and have some sentimental/sexual experiences - you just can't go around asking "hey I'm gay and I like you, are you gay too?", because some would just laugh and kindly answer "no", while others would feel offended and call their nazi friends to break your ribs. Shit is real.

For me, going to a gay pub is kinda like metalheads attending a gig or going to a rock/metal pub: places where you can meet other dudes with your same tastes and have a good time. There's nothing inherently bad about it. I went to a couple of gay pubs (even a lesbian pub with a friend of mine) last year and... I mean, they were just pretty normal places, where cool music was played (indie-rock and the like). But it was good to be there because you could look around and maybe approach someone without feeling like an outlaw or something. And yes, there are also gay bars a bit more, err, showy. But I guess it depends on what you're looking for.
On the other hand, gay prides are a different matter because they're made to raise public awareness, but imho they end up as clownings, if you know what I mean. I just don't sympathize with this kind of demonstration.

Was mostly refering to places where being gay/les/tran is overall not a problem, and being very general. Obviously you got a good point specifying about the difference between countries and that there are multitude of specific cases....
I can understand the auto-segregation thing, I've lived a couple of years in a city where gay/les community is really big so I'm familiar with this kinda stuff, and see it normal.

But my main point was, even if auto-segregation is a useful mean to serve a specific group (like for any minority), can this group really hope that someday they might be looked upon without the "stigma" of being this or that if they perpetuate these actions ? Or maybe they should just assume that their condition will always bring upon some form of prejudice (be it positive or negative, not judging) and they should live with it without making so much efforts to appear as "normal" as possible to the eyes of everyone else ? Again I'm taking from a point of view of tolerant societies, where lgbt groups have great presence and can get quite zealous over their objectives. I assume that most gay/les/tran don't give a shit about this issue, but a couple of them seem really obssessed with it.

I think most people would find that more people have an aversion to the LGBT groups, then homosexuals themselves. It is the LGBT overbearing attitude of force feeding everyone to accept their agenda regardless if the people like it or not. In Serbia they just had a parade where 7000 police officers had to secure a parade for 300, who were mostly foreigners. To make things interesting, there were people who wore provocative signs about religion, god or Patriarchs of the Serbian Church. Does not seem very tolerant to me from a group who wants to be tolerated. EU/USA "values" are not everyone's values.

Serbia is not USA, and USA is not USA anymore, but in USA they have nothing better to do and they can waste time and money for these parades, but Serbia cannot afford this, and this is the last thing on everyone's mind. The majority of Serbs still think that homosexuality is a mental problem, and I do not disagree with them. There is a time and place for everything, this is not one of those things.

Well that's because they keep getting bombarded with LGBT stuff, and when you are aggressive like that you will get people upset with you. In the USA they keep people distracted by stupid news, games, shows and sports, so they don't think about anything, or they just instigate a conflict so you would focus all of your attention there. And as far as food and other things are concerned with Serbia, there's nothing that can be done, since EU is calling the shots, and it will get only worse.

I personally don't have anything against them, I even know some here in the USA, but they do not try to shove an agenda in your face and force you to believe what they believe or force you to support them. They are also not the ones who try to create conflict with their paroles and parades like they do that in Serbia and few other countries. I don't condone their behavior, nor do I support it, but if they don't bother me, I don't bother them. That is tolerance.

But there is a difference.. Animal activists fight for animals who are tortured,owners don't feed them, live in terrible conditions.. Gay people have jobs,houses, actually they have pretty normal life compared to those abused animals.. I don't mind LGTB activism at all but it's mostly useless.. Well in some islamic countries women can't vote and they year is 2014.. Also they are mostly owned by men..
