I was surprised there werent any thread(s) about this fantastic band from Japan. Sigh did the same as Ulver did. They started out as a black metal band, and were actually on Euronymous' DSR (Deathlike Silence Records). Im listening to their debut album Scorn Defeat right now, and its one of the best black/avantgarde progressive records ive ever heard in my entire life, just unbelieveable! When they released their 2nd album Infidel Art, it still had some black metal influences, but it was far more progressive and innovative, and from Hail Horror Hail and up, they released some amazing records! I dont even know what genre they are, but maybe some jazz/progressive/electronical/psychedelic shit! Just fucking crazy, but still great!

I rarely like bands that change their style totally, but Sigh and Ulver are the only two exeptions. Pick up Scenario IV: Dread Dreams, Imaginary Sonicscape or even their latest album, Gallows Gallery and you wont believe that music like this existed. So I would like to know if any of you guys are into Sigh as well? And whats your favourite album? By the way, they signed with The End Records some months ago which is pretty cool, they fit perfectly on that record label!

Just saw the Sigh show in Cleveland a couple of days ago, and was blown away. I have been a fan ever since I first heard them, but was impressed with their showmanship. Mirai had great stage presence, and led the band through a (too-short, on my opinion) blistering set that included songs from almost all of their releases. The encore (Venom's Black Metal) was temporarily set back because Satoshi's bass amp had blown, but Mirai kept everyone engaged while it was repaired.

New band member Dr. Mikannibal stole the show, though. In addition to playing sax, she took over much of the vocals, including those from older material. Her scream/shriek is terrifying to behold.

All members of the band hung out in the club and talked with audience members both before and after their set. All in all a great show, and well-worth the five-hour drive for me to take it in.

Straight up this is the wackiest band I have ever heard ina few senses but they totally do what they do amazingly well. All around they're just damn cool and it's hard to describe them without a plethera of uplifting adjectives.

I'm going to be finally seeing them at Maryland Deathfest this month. I've been a fan since I first heard them... it's up my alley what with the bizarre sections and psychedelic qualities. The early albums are pretty damn dark and still experimental/avant garde at the same time. I'm hoping the new release Scenes From Hell will hold up well against their other albums.

True.
Although Scenario IV: Dead Dreams is the only Sigh album i've listened to, still dare to say they're just fabulous. In Diabolic Suicide you hear an insane repetition of "Suicide, Suicide, ..." for almost 70 damn seconds, only if i could take that seriouse in spite of the cheerful music. Gotta check other albums too...And they should be great live.

Gallows Gallery is one of my all time favorite albums, no other band is as fast and aggressive while still coming off as playful and upbeat. I'm not sure if the re-release was better or not, but it's cool to see all of the songs done in a different way. A lot of people can't stand the production there, but it's getting harder for me to recognize bad production when I hear it...

Has anyone heard Scenes From Hell? It's at the top of my 'to get' list but it'll be a while until I get new albums.

Definately check them out, it's just nuts in it's own way.

Scenario IV was the 1st album I got. The "country solo in the middle of the death metal track" was what blew my mind b/c it worked... It totally F*explative*King worked!!!

I do have to say that the "we're not gonna take it" like solo on "dreamshpere (return to the chaos)" & on the next track "Estatic Transformation" final fantasy 3 for SNES (I think that's FF5 technically) the bar music in..... damnit..... I think it's the Theif Town of Zoso or Figaro. Either way it's there.

Yeah go out and get their stuff!!!

I don't know exactly why but I find these guys absolutely hilarious. It's probably kinda stupid but its just the thought of a bunch of tiny Japanese guys playing black metal. They are really good though. Probably one of my favorite asian bands. Hangman's Hymn was a great album.

I love sigh \m/
they are without a doubt my favorite Japanese band, although Sabbat comes close. Their sound is really innovative and there is nothing that i can even compare it to! (at least off the top of my head). I am not too keen on their newest album, it isnt bad but there is something about it i dont like as much as the others; however, the album art on it is realllyyy cool.
