Traumatic Voyage

Traumatic Voyage is no usual band at all. It's more somekind of a solo-project, the intense self-expression of a extraordinary artist: Astorian so, Traumatic Voyage is Astorian.

His visionary art can't be shared without losing his purity. He's a solitary single-artist who works alone, except some guest musicians that he's using sometimes. Every Traumatic Voyage output is a complete art-concept. Music, lyrics and pictures are created by Astorian with the help of some friends. So, all fit together as one intense masterpiece of dark art.

Bands
48 Crash

With origins dating back to 1977 Gravestone were one of several German hard rock bands who initially experienced nothing but failure (they released two early LP's few people have ever heard of - 1979's Doomsday and 1980's War), yet hung around long enough to enjoy a small taste of recognition following the colossal 80's success of countrymen like the Scorpions and Accept.

Capitalizing on this sudden surge of interest, vocalist Berti Majdan, guitarists Mathias Dieth and Klaus Reinelt, bassist Thomas Sabisch, and drummer Dieter Behle would release three additional albums from their home base outside the southern city of Stuttgart - 1984's Victim Of Chains (featuring bassist Oli Orlitta), 1985's Back To Attack, and 1986's Creating A Monster - before morphing into a new band named 48 Crash.

Bands
earthtone9

Signing to Copro Records in 1998, the band's first major release was the album Lo-Def(Inition) Discord, which comprised songs from their three demos with a few new tracks. The record was produced on a budget of £500. Their harshest and noisiest recording, it quickly grabbed the attention of the British rock press, with favourable reviews in Terrorizer and Metal Hammer and a five-star rating in mainstream modern rock magazine Kerrang!.

After extensive touring, Lo-Def(Inition) Discord was followed in 1999 by Off Kilter Enhancement. Again it was a critical success, but commercial recognition was limited. The band had more time and money to play with this time, and it is here that the classic earthtone9 sound crystallised - harsh metal inspired by Helmet and Neurosis, mixed with softer textured moments, with Tool-esque dynamics and arrangements, not to mention enigmatic song titles and lyrics. Barely a year later, after the departure of original bassist Graeme Watts, the band delivered their final album - voted 16th best album of 2000 by Metal Hammer - Arc'Tan'Gent. It was described by earthtone9 as the first record they were truly happy with, having for the first time not been rushed in the recording process.

Bands
Shtack

Shtack started as a studio project containing Bram "Spaghettibeard" Claessen and Thimo "Dekzwabber" Gijezen. They both played in a metal band, Stygian Sun, in which they couldn't use the material they wrote, so they started their own project, Shtack.

Tom "Ripbelly", Stygian Sun's drummer, reacted very enthusiastic to the project and they decided to begin a three-piece band playing thick, fat pirate-metal. From that day on Shtack is a unique metal band with many influences and innovatory music! Their debut album came out in november 2013, so enjoy pirate-metal, enjoy Shtack.

Bands
Shok Paris

The Shok Paris story began with the dream of Bill Sabo in 1982. Wanting to form an original band, Bill turned to his cousin Eric Marderwald and Ken Erb. Eric had been playing in an early incarnation of Breaker, and was convinced to join ranks with Bill and Ken. After a time of rehearsal's, the three placed an ad for a bassist and vocalist. Kel Bershire answered the ad for bassist and the nucleus of Shok Paris was formed.

After trying out various singer's the band hired Buddy McCormack and Shok Paris had it's foundation. Not wanting to follow the usual pattern of local bands playing the bar scene doing covers, Shok Paris immediately started writing original material. In 1983 Shok Paris was offered a spot on the upcoming Cleveland Metal compilation. Cleveland Metal showcased the band's talent, but the band wasn't happy with the vocal's and decided to replace Buddy. Kel suggested a guy he had seen in a local band from his area. Kel had seen a band called Banger from his home town, and had immediately taken notice of the singer Vic Hix. Vic came onboard in early 1984, and the band was set to conquer the world.

Bands
Mordred

Before Anthrax collaborated with Public Enemy, before Rage Against The Machine tore up the DNC convention, and before Limp Bizkit shredded Woodstock, there was a band called Mordred from the Bay Area of San Francisco, California that started it all.

Mordred were formed back in 1984 in the San Francisco Bay Area during the era that gave us the big 4: Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax & Megadeth.

One of the first bands in the cross over thrash metal genre, they released their debut album Fool's Game back in 1989. Fool's Game gave birth to the hit single "Everyday's A Holiday", a huge crowd pleaser at the live shows. It also yielded a video which played in heavy rotation on MTV & other music stations internationally in addition to helping secure a successful American/European tour supporting the likes of Sacred Reich, Overkill, Nuclear Assault and Celtic Frost.

Bands
Where She Wept

Where She Wept is more a pure musical concept than it is a band. The music transcends today's clichéd and pretentious climate - an era of music based around befriending radio and television propaganda. Where She Wept represents the integrity upon which early heavy and extreme music based it's foundation: creating atmosphere, emotion and feeling rather than verses, choruses and hooks. This concept was first sought in early 1996 by band founder and vocalist Tom Muehlbauer. At the time the genre was at its peak, with European bands like My Dying Bride, The Gathering, Anathema and Cradle Of Filth creating some of their best works. Taking influences from these bands as well as early genre pioneers Celtic Frost, Candlemass and Bathory, Where She Wept was born.

Bands
Halloween

Detroit, Michigan's Halloween were an outrageously garbed shock rock band sporting platform boots and heavy make-up. The group comprised vocalist Brian Thomas, guitarist Rick Craig, bassist George Neal and drummer Bill Whyte. In addition to their self financed debut album release the band had the track "Come And Get It" featured on the Mercenary Records L'Amour Rocks compilation album issued in 1987 and comprised of some of the hottest, unsigned bands that had played the infamous L'Amours club in Brooklyn, New York.

Bands
Noble Beast

Noble Beast is a power metal band dealing in the sort of epic, sweeping anthems pioneered by bands like Helloween, Blind Guardian, and Iced Earth. Hailing from the icy wastes of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Noble Beast serves to bridge the gap between the melodic, hook-laden style of European power-metal and the heavy, riff-driven approach of US power-metal.

Songs like "Behold The Face Of Your Enemy", "We Burn" and "Peeling Back The Veil" are propelled by huge riffs, soaring harmonies, blazing solos, and massive choruses. There's even some thrash and black metal influence that works its way into incendiary speedsters like "Iron-Clad Angels" and "Disintegrating Force".

Bands
Gris

If the greatness of everything a pure soul can accomplish was unveiled to all, nobody would even notice, for the colors of such an apparition would be myriads of hues unknown to the man of the cities, so beautiful that they would blind fools by their vivid brightness. The soul that is drawn to this eurhythmic web is able to discern shapes heralding how it will shed the vileness lurking inside to become a fulfilled and true spirit. Gris is what can be glimpsed from these miraculous fractals. It is the shore of a new continent where we want to land, as well as the vessel that will carry us there. It is a phoenix that must be tamed and ridden to plunge into the depths of this painting of which we only see the sumptuous frame. It follows, through each of its chapters, the pathway of the human soul through each stage of deliverance. It is the balance between all forces and vibrations overwhelming us, the essence of spiritual freedom, a railway without a path, as one must be built without predefined beliefs. Gris is agnostic for all that caresses and scratches us. None know if our vision is corrupted or true. Within each of us lies a heart of iron tarnished by fear and emptiness, and each of us must build his own pathway since he is his own train. Thus, Gris is the wood and sweat with which we build our path, as well as the formula that will allow us to transform our own hearts into gold.

Bands
Hamferð

Hamferð is a Faroese term for the living images of sailors appearing before their loved ones. Written recordings of these apparitions are a recurrence within the toilsome and sorrowful depths of Faroese history, and this is where Hamferð, the band, draws its inspiration. Echoing through crawling, thunderous marches of blight and wails of melancholic isolation are the greatly unexplored darker recesses within the soul of the island people. Love, loss and solitude compose the core of the bands poetic lyricism, and all is presented through funereal figures, taking the stage with mournful silence.

Head Phones President

The Alternative Heavy Rock Movement is currently experiencing an explosive rise in popularity even here in Japan. Already on the scene and clearly standing out from amongst them, the name permeating through is none other than Head Phones President.

The highlight of Head Phones President is female vocalist Anza's beautiful yet painful, and violently thrown about passionate feelings, and the raging billows of heaviness and groove that swirl through her performance. The emotional scale and dynamism of this mixture of vivid emotions with tribal rhythms and beautiful melodies never fails to overwhelm.

Bands
Putrid Pile

In late 1995, Shaun Lacanne joined Numskull and had a 5 year reign of terror with the likes of Tom Bradner (Guitar), Paul Benigno (Vocals), Mike Eisenhauer (Bass), and Scott Creekmore (Drums). We went through a couple of lineup changes introducing Mark Page (Bass), and later Ryan Schaefer (Bass). Due to some circumstances beyond anyones control, Numskull split up. Hence the birth of Putrid Pile.

Frustrated with Numskull's breakup, I (Shaun) had to press on and be a part of the sickness that is the underground. Knowing already what I wanted, I immediately picked up a drum machine and started writing intense, sick and twisted guttural death metal. By the end of 2000, Putrid Pile had enough material for a 5-song demo. Early in 2001, Putrid Pile went to Mercenary Digital Studios to record the demo and entitled it "Bleed For Me". The first time it was ever released into public hands was at Milwaukee Metalfest 2001. It received a great response from the majority of the people who received a copy. Shortly afterwards Putrid Pile concentrated on live shows and getting as much publicity as possible.

Bands
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats

Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats are an English psychedelic doom band from Cambridge, heavily influenced by the late 1960s when heavy metal was then emerging. Allmusic praised the band's ability to recreate a particular aspect of this era, describing the band as "celebrating the Summer Of Love's soul-chilling autumn: a blasted landscape, post-flower power, resembling Altamont's killing fields, reeking of the Manson Family murders, and, naturally, sounding like a mish-mash of all of the apocalyptic musical forces that converged upon that era."
