Sxuperion - Through Cosmic Corridors

The death metal genre has, quite thankfully, been seeing a notable spike in creativity in recent years. With the likes of Tribulation, Morbus Chron, and even Horrendous this year, a good number of bands seem to now be hell bent on updating the old school sound with their own original twists. Naturally, being the intense fan I am for solo work, I asked myself what the one man response to this growing trend would be. If you were wondering as well, question no longer, for Sxuperion is your answer.

Bands
Ex Libris

Progressive powerhouse Ex Libris entered the world of heavy metal in 2004. Hailing from the Netherlands, a country known for it's big and diverse female-fronted scene, they stand out as u unique voice within the genre. Classically trained soprano Dianne van Giersbergen soars and whispers throughout big, bombastic songs that are not only impressive in length, but also in sheer, raw power. There's ample room for progressive licks, melodies and solo's next to athmospheric and soothing soundscapes. But make no mistake, they put the pedal to the metal. Pounding double bass drums, furious riffs and frighteningly intense vocals all combine to make Ex Libris a singular force in the world of female-fronted music. Expect full-on musicianship, epic songwriting, extreme dynamics and the full emotional spectrum from one of the most gifted sopranos in The Netherlands.

GARDEN OF SHADOWS began to take shape in the summer of 1995 when the remaining members of FUNERAL OPERA decided to search for a second guitarist. Mary joined the band soon after, and within three months, they parted ways with drummer Kevin due musical differences. The band went through over a year of stagnation in which they worked with several drummers who did not work well with the band for various reasons until they were finally joined by Bret, former drummer for Maryland's SADISTIC TORMENT, in late 1996, enabling them realize their vision. Bands
Nova Orbis

Symphonic metal is an unexpected export from Colombia, but Nova Orbis came across the mountains of South America and overcame their build-up to a very solid and melodic sound with plenty of depth and emotion. Strong and clean female vocals, flamboyant keyboard play and theatrical male orations keep their music interesting and enjoyable throughout.

Their debut album Imago, released nationally in 2009 and internationally in 2010, is a mature and eclectic mix of songs and styles that shows why Nova Orbis is Colombia's new metal export. Imago received positive reviews in different European, Canadian and American online and printed magazines, such as Fireworks and Terrorizer (UK), Artists and Bands (Italy), Sonic Cathedral (USA), Metalswitzerland (Switzerland), among others.
