Bands
Coliseum

Coliseum formed in 2003 and have since played over 700 shows on four continents, touring with Rise Against, Boris, Converge, Russian Circles, High On Fire, Mono, Baroness, Red Sparowes, Torche, and many others.

Celebrating their 10th year as one of independent music's most substantive bands, Louisville's Coliseum return with their fourth full-length, the stunning Sister Faith, to be released on April 30 on Temporary Residence Ltd. Expanding on the anthemic direction the trio veered toward on 2010's House With a Curse, the album's 13 songs are the most dynamic and immediately captivating of the band's career, bristling with galvanizing melodies at the collision point between punk and noise-rock.

Bands
Ancient Ceremony

The melodic black metal band Ancient Ceremony was formed in the summer of 1989 by vocalist Chris Anderle and guitarist F.J. Krebs. At first they were known only as Ancient but they added Ceremony to the name as they found out that there was already a band with that name. The duo were joined by second guitarist Dirk Wirz and drummer Christoph Mertes in the winter of 1991. In February of 1993 the completed band recorded their first demo tape entitled "Where Serpents Reign". All music was written by Krebs and all lyrics by Anderle, inspired by the works of Nietzsche, de Sade, Byron and Crowley to mention a few.

Bands
Witchsorrow

For years, if not decades, Heavy Metal's heaviest sub-genre known as doom metal has been something of an enigma, generally ignored by the metal masses, its flames kept fanned by a mere handful of cave-dwelling enthusiasts that fully understood its emotional depth and beauty.

With this in mind, it was almost inconceivable that it would become as widely acknowledged and appreciated as it is today. Since recent times the term 'Doom Metal' is used almost as commonly as any other form of metal, and whilst many trends have come and gone, Doom never went away.

Bands
Quorthon

In 1993 Quorthon set Bathory aside and recorded and released two albums under the name "Quorthon". The first, called Album, was released in 1994, and then in 1996 Quorthon released Blood on Ice, a Viking metal concept album which he began recording in 1989 but did not finish. The final two releases released under the name of Quorthon emerged in 1997 Purity of Essence and the EP When Our Day Is Through. The albums released under the Quorthon moniker were more rock oriented than Bathory's black / Viking /Thrash style. While working on these albums he found new inspiration to continue composing music for Bathory. Bathory's next albums were in a retro-thrash metal style, unlike previous releases. His next albums followed in that vein, before he veered towards his Viking metal style once again especially on the Nordland saga. It was planned as a four-album set, but only two were finished.

Bands
Blackfinger

Following his departure as longtime vocalist for Chicago doom legends TROUBLE in 2008, Eric Wagner promptly removed himself from the spotlight and began intently writing new material of a more personal nature. Those writing sessions would yield the musical inspiration for BLACKFINGER. Described adamantly as a "band" and not a "project", BLACKFINGER began to take shape as a unit in 2009, with Wagner recruiting hometown friends Rico Bianchi and Doug Hakes on guitars, Ben Smith on bass, and Larry Piatz on drums. Over the course of the next four years, the group would meticulously craft and commit eleven tracks to tape. These tracks, with their many peaks and valleys of heaviness and melancholy, along with Wagner's signature vocals, would ultimately become the self titled debut album. "Blackfinger" will mark the singer's first recorded output since TROUBLE's 2007 release "Simple Mind Condition".

Bands
Oliver/Dawson Saxon

In 1994, Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson, founding members of Saxon, reunited. They began under the name 'Son of a Bitch' (which had been Saxon's own name originally, before they became well known) but were often billed as Saxon on tours by promoters, though the band often didn't discourage this. In 2000 after a period of inactivity they decided to officially rename themselves Oliver/Dawson Saxon. The band has been known by this name ever since, and despite recording other material from 1996 onwards have always relied primarily on Saxon songs during live sets. Despite Byford attempting a legal injunction against the use of the name "Saxon" in the band's title to falsely promote themselves, as founding members of the original band courts deemed use of the name legally acceptable.

Bands
Silent Kingdom

Silent Kingdom was formed in the beginning of 1999. The concept is based on the history of Bosnia and Bosnian traditional music "Sevdalinka", combined with something no one combined before - black metal.

In 2002. after already having released two demo albums ("Fields Of Dream" and "Visions From Forgotten Land") and one EP ("Whispering Nights And Majestic Winds"), Silent Kingdom started working on their debut full length CD "Bloodless", which was released through "Walk Records" two years later. It turned out to be quite an experimental album, full of black/death metal riffs, blast beats and oriental melodies, which established Silent Kingdom as the most original band in Bosnia.

Reviews
Bloodtruth - Obedience

I'm tired and angry. I won't make the slightest effort to make this review interesting, or easy to read. Nor will I try to be original. And I certainly won't resort to intricate sentences to make this longer than it has to be. Why would I put more work into this than Bloodtruth did when writing the album?

Bands
Soulburn

A suffocating darkness eclipses the world as SOULBURN rise anew...

Originally, SOULBURN emerged after the demise of Dutch death metal legend Asphyx in the mid 90's, when founding members Eric Daniels (guitars) and Bob Bagchus (drums) looked for a seperate outlet to unleash their mutual obsession with Bathory, Venom, Celtic Frost and unite it with a dark, doomy and primal death metallic twist. After a demo and the cult "Feeding On Angels" debut album via Century Media Records in 1998, which featured Wannes Gubbels (Pentacle) on vocals/bass, SOULBURN were put to rest and seemed to be a mere transitional act before Asphyx achieved a short-lived return for "On The Wings Of Inferno" (2000) with the same line-up.

Bands
Wino

Over the last 25 years Scott "Wino" Weinrich has defined heavy music and is truly the Godfather of the movement. Starting with the Obsessed, and Saint Vitus and onto his mind-blowing power trios: Spirit Caravan and The Hidden Hand his virtuosity on six strings is matched perfectly with his soulful vocals and powerful lyrics. But as us Wino freaks know he has always graciously shared the spotlight with his band members. Even though it was Wino we came to see and hear he seemed to understand the power of the chemistry of the bands he was leading. His selflessness seems unnecessary considering his talents but it was his decision to equally share the glory.
