Bands
Toundra

Toundra is a band from Madrid, Spain, formed in 2007 as a phoenix from the ashes of the recently-dissolved Nacen De Las Cenizas, which left a good taste in mouth among both national and international hardcore followers, despite the briefness of their existence. The new creature has decided to dispense vocals and provides us with an entirely instrumental sound where guitars, bass and drums take on the entire role.

After some demos, the quartet introduces itself with its first selftitled album, recorded Carlos Santos (ex-Terroristars) at Sandman Studios with production from Studio Tailor Maid in Sweden by the prestigious Peter in the Betou (Arch Enemy, Opeth etc.). Through the excellent work of both, the band has managed to create the suitable environment for the structures' development and the intensity of highs and lows that characterize the band.

Bands
Shepherd

Shepherd is probably the only Bangalore-based sludge/heavy rock band from India. The band has been making waves in the underground, drawing Influence from the guitar-driven sounds of early 90's hard rock (Soundgarden, The Melvins, Eyehategod) and the aural assault of 80's hardcore punk (Black Flag, Discharge, Fear), the band has built a reputation for itself as an ever-evolving and unpredictable heavy rock entity.

Despite a setlist that keeps growing with every gig under its belt, the band takes it a step further by introducing improvisational elements into their music - sort of a rarity in heavy music. Shepherd being the only band of its kind in India has been slowly building a reputation as one of the loudest, heaviest three-piece band to watch out for, ready to take on the rest of the country, and the world.

Sylosis - Dormant Heart

Britain's Sylosis neatly cut out the generics of not one but two of metal's categories in their flexible fusion of melodic death metal and thrash. Theirs is a specifically fresh and individual approach, wilfully endeavouring to set themselves apart as an evident outlier in modern metal. With the push for originality which many contemporary bands in melodic death would set out to achieve by incorporating variations of thrash or metalcore into their sound, the former exceeds its foundations in the style and success of Dormant Heart.
