The Metal Storm reviewers love bringing you the best new demos and EPs we hear from all metal genres, right here in Clandestine Cuts. The last few issues, however, have been noticeably lacking in DEATH METAL so today we're bringing you not one but two hot new bands to give you some neck damage. Not into death metal? Five other bands to devour. Now kiddies, go listen and vote for the next big thing.

| Morning Dew - Morning Dew https://www.facebook.com/Morning.Dew.Music Morning Dew hail from Italy and dive into the vast meadows (as the cover indicates) of atmospheric black metal with a few doses of melancholy; but there's also a bittersweet vibe. The atmospheric factor is driven by the guitars and the screaming vocals, no keyboards around, only the basic instrumentation. Even when they tend to quicken the pace there's always a sense of melody that's more vivid whenever the chords or acoustic guitars appear. They don't seem to be presenting something new, but they know what they're doing, showing a decent face on their first attempt.  | Pallor Mortis - Pallor Mortis Listen to all 4 songs here This Canadian quintet aren't doing anything that hasn't already been done before but their four-track EP still offers what all death metal fans crave: guttural growls, chugging guitars, blasting drums, and catchy songs. Kind of like if Six Feet Under were good. Lyrically they help set themselves apart from typical gore bands in that their primary focus is on notorious historical figures and overlords and the like. Also, they have a chick bassist. I'm assuming she's hot, too, so these guys get bonus points for that. Maybe she'll be the next Jo Bench? Potential babe musician aside (still looking for pics), these guys...and girl...know their shit, they do it well, and they don't waste time fucking around with experimentation. It's death metal. | Red Sky - Tra l'ombra e l'anima https://www.facebook.com/pages/Red-Sky/156269647752813?sk=app_178091127385 Tra l'ombra e l'anima (Between Shadow and Spirit) sounds a bit like a revved up Explosions In The (Red) Sky. The post-rock instrumental premise is the same, only the band tosses in the occasional distortion, double bass, while the guitarist stomps his wah-pedal, tremolos, and two-hand taps around the fretboard. Perhaps a bit derivative, but if you enjoy that style, it's worth checking out just for the added oomph. by BitterCOld |  |
 | Demolition Train - Kill Your Boss http://www.myspace.com/demolitiontrain Nowadays in Greece statements like Kill Your Boss are more representative than ever before. And this is the title of Demolition Train's first EP; a work filled with energy, kick ass attitude and in your face straight forward compositions that are not afraid to speed up even more from what you expected. Imagine Motorhead blending with an early Bay Area vibe and the recipe's complete. Apart from that and despite the fact that the band's not presenting anything new, they do some really good work, especially with the guitars that are not afraid to offer some really inspired and ecstatic solos. And let's not forget the boiling vocals and the raging rhythm section! All in all, we're talking about decent first attempt from a band that loves to rock n' roll the heavy way and they're not afraid to show it, on the contrary. by DerRozzengarten |
| Cambion - Last Rites http://www.reverbnation.com/cambionuk Melodic death metal, gothenburg and metalcore, all merged into one. And there is more: they even add djent to the mix. And no, it is not a complete schizophrenia. There is method to the madness, but it is fair to say that the band is doing their fair share of experimenting. Alternating between deadly paced riffs, In Flames-like melodies, coordinated technical rhythms and more unassuming structures, Last Rites is as engaging as they come. Even though it is quite heavy and venomous for the most part, there are some acoustic breaks with the occasional solo, and clean vocals that invade and complement the songs. The music of Cambion is ultimately not very difficult to assimilate, it is instantaneous and direct, and it manages to catch the listener off guard right off the bat, throwing unexpected riffs that come out of nowhere. Instead of wallowing snifflingly in your bed all day, being lashed by War of the Worlds-level invasions of guilt, fearing various cancers and herpes, fearing death in a nursing home, anxious about future-you sucking, and afraid that you're going to puke on your new sheets... thinking that everyone--your friends, family, your fucking pets--think you're a worthless bucket of filth, anxiously wondering about where all the scrapes and bruises on your arms and legs came from, and waiting concernedly for some briefing on how that fruit bat got stuck in your closet... stop. Seriously. Nut up, take an ibuprofen, and take a small slug of this thrash Assaulter's given you. It'll make you feel better. You're probably not a worthless piece of shit and that fruit bat... well, might want to call animal control about that one, but that shit happens to everyone. | Masada - Suffer Mental Decay http://www.myspace.com/masadadasam Wow? Ok, this is in no way unprofessional. We are talking about members with ties to bands like Immolation, Incantation, Goreaphobia and Grand Belial's Key so it shouldn't surprise me that this demo has such a good quality but still holy shit guys! As you would have guessed already, despite the thrash-like artwork this is a death metal demo and a very impressive one let me tell you. The only problem here is that it's just too short! Two songs clocking around 6 minutes isn't enough time for me to react after my face being ripped off. First of all, the production is perfect here, you can hear everything but the sound is still really Old-school. It has a bit of technical passages going on as well, mostly notable due to the great bass lines and some odd and morbid riffs that reminds me of bands like Demilich, Autopsy or old Death. Demoliton Train: They have only released one EP: therefore all the tracks on their myspace are from that EP.
