I didn't know Norway could be so brutal, Blood Red Throne did a great job with "Altered Genesis" indeed; I must say I'm really overwhelmed by this album. Have you ever been walking down the street all calmed just watching the birds flying and the squirrels eating nuts, then without a previous warning a huge stone takes off out of nowhere and strikes you accurately in your left testicle, leaving you breathless and filled with anger and pain? Well that's exactly how this album sounds and how this album will make you feel; quite interesting right?

Blood Red Throne is a Norwegian band playing powerful Old School Death Metal ala Dismember or Entombed, what I mean is you'll find both brutality and melodies in the same album. Maybe it's neither original nor fresh, but nowadays Death Metal is not innovative at all, that's why people created BDM, PDM, etc. So it's good to see bands rewinding their tapes to catch the greatness of the Death Metal forefathers and putting their knowledge into practice, kind of like "The Strokes" or "The Hives" of Metal.

What do we really have here? A promising band; I'm really interested in what "Blood Red Throne" will do 5 to 10 years away from now, if they continue working in the same path, if they start studying the old school and adding innovation, originality and who knows what? Into their music, they'll finally be able to deliver a "perfect" album, an album to be praised by all the melancholic Death Metallers missing the old days; and I'm going to be honest with you, "Altered Genesis" is one hell of a start, I love this album to the bone right now.

In the end Blood Red Throne is easily one of the best "new" Death Metal bands in the present scene delivering atrocious riffing, pummeling drum patterns, incredible bass-lines and one of the most refreshing vocalizations I've heard in a long time (similar to old "Suffocation"); all this great things covered with an avant-garde spice here and there. Music wise this piece is brilliant, I wasn't able to find any flaw in the execution and even the structures are abrasive and complex.

So, if you want to hear a decent Death Metal piece, let me rephrase that, if you want to hear one of the best Death Metal albums from last year, try this one, it will shock the brains out of you.

I have not, but if listening to this album is like that then I don't know if.. nah, joke

I love Blood Red Throne and the fact that they're from my country is a sweet detail. Their music is really catchy and groovy, but dirty nontheless.

This album is one of their best if not their best.
