WARNING: This is a highly subjective review written by a fangirl and it might get super complicated.

I'm irresistibly attracted to any sound which is capable of creating and conveying the abyss of feelings and melancholic atmosphere. Yeah, I'm a sucker for that, in other words I believe that Xasthur is one of the greatest examples of them. Get ready fans of dark depressive metal (I am not going to apologize for using those words for Xasthur music.)

Here is what we have in this album: A sick journey to an unfathomable abyss and you can comfortably trust Telepathic With The Deceased by Xasthur for such experience. And I think that the only comparable album with this one might be To Violate The Oblivious.

But I am not trying to raise your expectations for this album especially in terms of production, I would steal Marcel's line that said it all in short: "Xasthur is all about texture and ambience." Then do not go around Telepathic With The Deceased for an album of neat musicianship or production.

In fact, it is nastily depressive black metal with an intense dark atmosphere and for grasping the songs you must delve into it without any attempt of dissecting the musical elements, instead I suggest to just flow with its melancholic vibes, with its soothing striding "ambience" in some songs, and it will strike you with them in the end.

I believe that Xasthur has totally a sort of minimal approach, at least in Telepathic With The Deceased. I feel that Xasthur intentionally avoided to use several musical lines and even lengthy lyrics, all you hear is concise and adequate. It begins with a soothing intro which has been named appropriately as "Entrance Into Nothingness", it describes the start of this experience of listening to a band like Xasthur. I think the first-half of the album ends with "Telepathic With The Deceased" which has a very armageddon-ish ending, which is actually a super end.

Then the second half starts with "A Walk Beyond Utter Blackness" which I think it is a turning point. It seems to me that there is a slight change of atmosphere at it: the songs get more slow-paced, ambient and melancholic from this point till the end of album. Even the lyrics become more deeply depressive in the second-half. I cannot tell how perfectly this album ends with the closing song named "Exit".

In the end, I would like to mention "May Your Void Become As Deep As My Hate!" as the most mesmerizing song of this album for me. In general both lyrically and musically the whole album is unique in its own genre. Don't linger on my review, go grab a Xasthur instead!
