"Dyecrest" is a young Power/Heavy metal band from Finland. The particularity of this new band is that they are one of the winners of the "Young Metal God contest". A big contest across Europe where bands had to send their demo to seven magazine from six European countries. The only criteria being all bands must be unsigned and have a maximum average age of 23 years. After a deliberation of the jury the five best bands were invited to play in the finals, a live show at the famous Zeche in Bochum, Germany, to discover the last 3, the winners that would secure a record deal with Noise and enter into the studio to record with Piet Sielck (Blind Guardian, Iron Savior, Paragon) in Hamburg.
Evidently, as a winner, Dyecrest is coming now with their first production "The Way Of Pain" a very good Power/Heavy metal records but however with some little flaws.

"The Way Of Pain" is a good and promising first album. The musicians of "Dyecrest" are talented there is no doubt. The singer has a good voice, the drummer and the bass player are very often on the recording, and the three guitarists [who are not again masters of the guitar solo] anyway know what they do.
All the tracks, and it's certainly the good point of "The Way Of Pain", are very catchy. It's a real pleasure to listen this Heavy metal production. The I will not be very long on that point because even if "The Way Of Pain" is a good production, well it's not very original too then it's good for sure but
And there are some really bad points on this album.
The big one is certainly the production, which is not very good? There is a lot of time too much bass? and the sound sometime is note very correct for this kind of production? It's hard to explain but something is wrong with the recording? The sound is just not too clean and it's a shame for "Dyecrest".
By the way excepted this problem with the sound and the lack of originality of this album I must admit that this first production is a good one and a lot of people must try this young Finnish.

As a conclusion, I will recommend "The Way Of Pain" to all the Power and Heavy metal fans, "Dyecrest" is certainly not the revelation of the year, but they have something really cool in their music and I'm sure that a lot of people could be very enchanted to listen their music. A good first production not perfect but the best is to come. Try it and you'll see
