Anevrisme is a band from Paris, founded in the late 90s. They have gone through many adjustments in their line-up and music, as their former singer Hadrien died in a car accident, and that they tried to continue with a female singer, to end up with a band of really good musicians - Yann and Julien on the guitars, Sylvain on the bass, Florian on the drums, Florent is the new singer, and Cyril the sound engineer.

They have already participated to some musical competitions where they could hit the stage in some really well-known, prestigious venues in Paris. And from the comments I have read, they did well, and set the stage on fire!
Their style isn't easy to describe: I could say it's heavy/prog/nu metal, but "power rock" is a good reference.

Most of their songs include some English and French passages, but Florent's English accent is not that perfect (it's not too bad though).
The first track of this demo is "Fini le temps", with some soft verses (in English), heavy and catchy choruses (in French), we're easily going through this 7 minutes song
"Dies Irae" is heavy with some power-prog metal influences here and there. The lyrics are easy to understand, and they got a kinda stuck in my mind from some time.
"Shadow" has a clean and progressive instrumental intro that opens for a very good song, at the same time powerful, melodic, with some vocals that really fit the music, sometimes clear, and sometimes more powerful. The only problem comes from that English accent, and from the recording of the vocals.
"Shivering Inside" is a short and powerful song, with a very catchy, yet quite simple, guitar riff. Then Sylvain's "jazzy" bass playing makes it softer but lively, while Florent sings in French in the verses, and in English for the choruses.
"Wasted" is a heavy progressive song, mixing clean passages for the verses and powerchords for the choruses, solos, etc.
"Regarde" is entirely sung in French and is another clean/heavy song as Anevrisme do very well.
The bonus track, "Magdalenae", recorded live at the New Morning - a famous venue in Paris, though not specialised in metal concerts, is really heavy but you can hear that the bass really add a dimension to the music, and also that the vocals are even better live than when the demo was recorded. Moreover I've seen some videos excerpts that shows that they're really good on stage, including the singer.

I like this demo, it shows a very promising band, with a bunch of good musicians willing to bring their best into this band. The only real problem is the production, and this has many consequences, mainly on the voice: I had the chance to hear another track, recorded after this demo, more nu-metal oriented, but the vocals were really good, with some varied singing methods, and an overall production much better than this first demo. I have hesitated a long time just to decided whether I should rate it 7.5 or 8, but I finally chose 8, cause this band tries to make their own music, and they can bring something new into the French scene.
