What a good idea, what a good idea from the label Adipocere Records to release "In Odium Veritas 1996-2002", because if you like real good Black Metal and if you don't know the Swedish combo Zavorash, I really think that this CD could be a good mean to discover their very good Nihilist Black Metal. This album is in fact a combo of their 2nd demo "In Odium Veritas" with in addition two unreleased songs "The Disciple Of David" and "Bluescreen/The Enemy" and I can only say that I really like their music.

This is not a real album at the opposite we are in front of the re-edition of the nice 2nd demo of the band [with however two songs in addition]. And this demo is really good, no doubt we have a talented band here, and the only question will be why only 2 demo since the beginning of the band in 1996? That's really weird, and I can understand why Adipocere just signed the band on their Black Metal subdivision Oaken Shield. There is more than potentiality with Zavorash, without any album they however sound like a very strong and mature band. That's really enjoyable to see that we can have bands like this one which can have such result after only one demo, and when you see the two new songs especially "The Disciple Of David", humm yummy that's promising for the future?
The music of Zavorash is aggressive and cold but however very melodic. This is not a new symphonic metal band don't misunderstand me, but the choruses are very catchy, this is this kind of Black Metal that everybody who like extreme Metal could like. The typical voice of the singer is good, the other musicians aren't bad, even if we don't have the best of the best that's ok?
The production of the CD is not perfect but remember this is only a demo and it's already more than ok, you can find especially with Black Metal a lot of worst production. Even if it's minimalist, that's "easy" to listen to this album, and one more time that's a good point for me.

We would like to have a real first album of the band, but at least this re-edition will give to you an interest to the combo. If you like Black Metal this demo is a must have, an interesting release? This is maybe not some very "heavy" and "true" Black Metal but that's not a problem and this band deserves to have it success. Check it you couldn't regret it?

Good compilation, although their full-length is better. Too bad this band is so overlooked. they're quite good.

Wow, I did not see this review before, and indeed the full length is better, more of a mature and substantial sound imo, but this also good.
