Another band from the German Power Metal scene, seems that these kind of bands never cease to exist, in this case we're not talking about a newcomer exactly, Madog was founded in 1992, but they didn't release an album until November 1999, the album was named "Dreamland", and it got good reviews around Europe.

In 2002 they produced and self-financed a second album called "Fairytales Of Darkness", the album was sold in Austria and Germany only, now, Sound Riot Records, re-released this album, remastered and packed it with new Cd layout/design, also this re-release include a bonus track.

Madog plays pretty generic Heavy/Power Metal, up-tempo and mid-tempo songs are their thing, after a few spins of the album I was somewhat unsatisfied, not because these guys are bad or something, but they pretty do the same that millions of bands are doing, in their defense I must say that the production, some good riffing and soloing here and there really helps to stand out from some of the crowd, but not from all.

You don't need only good players to make it in the business, you need creative songwriting and new elements, things that Madog lack.
I'm being so harsh with the band because maybe back in 1992 they were pretty original, but nowadays, millions of bands are doing the same stuff.

Doesn't take the fact that they have good songs, "Heart Of Dragonsteel" , "The Hunter" and "One Thousand Feet" are among my favorites of the album.
My advice for these guys, now that you have a decent record deal, is time to push things further, either you continue doing classic stuff and remain in anonymity, or start brainstorming for new ideas for the next album, some beers will boost your creativity if you ask me, but that's just me.
