Devil-May-Care was formed around 1999, and debuted in 2001 at Michurinsk Metalfest in Russia, in 2002 they recorded this, their debut album, and they waited until December 2003 to release it under underground Russian label, Stygian Crypt Productions.

These guys play Melodic Black Metal filled with classical keyboards and some folk influences here and there, some female vocals can be found in the record too.
I know what are you thinking, another Cradle Of Filth clone, let me tell you that they're not, while they're not the exact opposite of CoF, they manage to create a unique sound, this is accomplished mainly by the keyboard work, which is excellent.

The record starts with "Morrigan (Illusory Queen Of War)" a fast paced song, with nice keyboard touches, but the song isn't impressive at all, "Tackhisis" is a more creative song, with both shrieks and female vocals, and great guitar riffs, "Call Me When I Die?" is another great song, as a matter of fact, my favorite in the record, in this one, the shrieks, the clean voices and the female voices wailing in the back intertwine with elegance, creating a nice atmosphere.
Both "My Witch" and "Darkness" are the longest acts in the album, clocking more than 9 minutes each, both great songs that follows the style aftermentioned? well, not counting that "My Witch" have some electronic drum n' beat inserted in there, special mention to Nastya and her beautiful voice in this song.

These seems like a great album isn't it? Sadly the whole record suffers from a serious problem, bad production, the whole mix is very bad done, the guitars sound too noisy, and if to this we add the fact that the band uses a drum machine we have here a big problem right?
The thing I'm trying to guess if the band deliberately created sound on purpose, this days in don't know anymore who's trying to get that "in-the-woods" raw Black Metal sound, and who's not.

Anyway, we have cool symphonic, melodic, Black Metal, but with a case of bad production, worry not, is not that awful, you get used to it, but the first listen is hard, at least it was for me, so I'll recommend to try first, if you get past the production, you'll be rewarded with a great album.
