Coming from Greece Overgarven released last year their 2nd demo, simply entitled "Promo 2005". I didn't have the luck to listen to their first release so it will be hard for me to do any comparison but it's clear that we're in front of a band that deserves all our attention because this demo is not bad at all?

Oki, like a lot of new combo (God know why?) Overgarven plays Melodic Death Metal and if a lot of you'll be one more time bored by this news, I have to say that at the opposite Overgarven's music is at least surprising. They don't follow the simple and basic structure of the genre, for example you'll be able to find some female symphonic choruses on the 2nd songs, "Just A Fake" and the last one "Let Me Die", even if it is still Melodic Death, is not so far away of an angry Iced Eath song.

So ok they play Melodic Death but they avoid falling in all the traps that a lot of young bands didn't even see (or know?) when they play this kind of Metal. So with a nice production and five really strong songs this demo gives me the feeling that Overgarven has the possibility to find a deal with a label. On the other hand, let's hope that they won't be pushed away in reason of the numerous bad signatures that we had lately with the genre. They don't deserve such future but unfortunately the Metal market is not so good nowadays so?

No doubt, Overgarven is a young promising combo who knows how to write good songs. Their second demo is a really good piece of Melodic Death and I hope that you'll have the luck to listen to it just to see that one can be a newcomer that plays something trendy without forgetting the word originality. So well done Overgarven and may the gods of Metal help you during your quest of the holy label
