When I first looked at Aussies Catwitch, I thought it was some kind of Nu Metal or something, because of their masks, makeup and that stuff? kind of a trend nowadays, you know, the pseudonyms, masks, makeup etc, elements that have been more present in less mainstream genres like Black Metal for instance.

But Catwitch are no Nu Metallers, but a rather brew of Gothic and Thrash Metal, all three songs contained in this sort of single are pretty different between each other, and all are previews of what can we find on their upcoming release "Faces". The Ep also contains other songs from their past albums, or so I read somewhere in the web, but to be completely honest with you, if these guys didn't took the time to put the names of the extra songs in the booklet, I won't take the time to review them either, so we got 3 songs and that's what we're focusing on.

The first son is pretty monotonous, "The Hidden" is the name, and boring is the style, mid-paced song with no originality at all, don't waste your time there, next song "Scare-Crow" is much more better, has more life in it, the arrangements are hooky, and the chorus is catchy also, last song "Faces" sounds more Gothic than any of the previous, because here is where we can hear the great voice of Kieran O'Reilly in action, deep yet melodic, and watch that Heavy Metal solo in the middle!

To be completely frank here, I wasn't impressed by this at all, and I don't think I'm too excited to hear "Faces" anymore?
Ok, I'll be a good boy here, check out the bonus tracks in the album, they're definitively the best thing about the Ep, even if they're available on their previous records, I would recommend "The Breed", or track number four, for those who have the album, and like me, have no idea what are the names of the extra songs. My rating? A solid 4. The extra 1.5 goes for "The Breed" and the bonus tracks.
