Black Widow was formed in 1997. Originally this band was created to be a "cover" combo of all our favourites 80's Hard Rock and Heavy Metal bands. After some more than promising gigs, they decided to do their own music. Year 2003, "Satan's Playground" the first original album of the band is ready, and we will see through this reviews that this album is a really nice start. If you like old school metal, this review is for you.

For a first album, I must admit that "Satan's Playground" is a really good surprise. It's really easy for me to feel the maturity of the band in all their compositions, and for sure when you have this kind of feelings, it's always a very good point.
The music of the band is a powerful classic Hard Rock / Heavy metal with a lot of strong guitars riff, solo and strong tempo but the originality come from the fact that their music is really dark and from the singer of the band Cat. Yeah, a girl who sing in a Gothic or Atmospheric metal band it's very common but in an Hard Rock band that's not the same. And Cat is a really, really good singer. She has a really nice voice a bit dark and mysterious [that's great I think?] and the great thing is that you really feel how much she is charismatic through her voice, I'm sure that she must be a real great front"girl" in Live. The other musicians are good too, no problem with them, and with a good production believe me that there is no a ton of real problems for this album. Plus the lyrics are good the cover is nice etc etc? This is well done nothing more to say.
The only real problem of this album in fact is that it's not very original. I have no doubt, it couldl be better in the future because after all this is only a first album but this is a shame for this album because with just some more originality and personality in it, it shoudl be really really good. However I say it again, I'm not scared for their next productions because I'm sure that it could kick some ass?
Hoo and I just want to say one thing more. The band sent me their cd with a real press book, and I just want to thank them to do such promotion, because believe me that's cool when you write reviews to work in such conditions.

At the end I will say that if you like "dark" Hard Rock or Heavy Metal, you should give a chance to this band because they deserve to be know. Oki it's a bit old school but interesting and more than honest.
This is not a revolution but in the style but this is more than well done. A band that you should follow if you like this kind of Music.
