Excalion is one of the last signatures of the label Sound Riot Records. They will release soon their new album "Primal Exhale" and plays Melodic Power Metal. In fact I have only three songs with this demo, then it's not really easy for me to give a really objective opinion on the band, but I will try to do it only for you?

For sure we are in front of Power Metal? If you like this music you could like Excalion but I must be clear, I think that Excalion is only a band for people who like Power. The others ones could find a nice band with good musicians, the guitars solo parts for exemple are really good, the singer is not bad at all, but however, if you're not into this kinf of music, it can be boring at the end. But there are some really good things like the keyboards parts for example. The keyboards which sound very melodic and symphonic are really present on some tracks, I wish that the band will use it a lot in the upcoming album, that's a good point for the band and its give an originality to their music.
The three songs are not bad however, catchy like a lot of Power songs but it's not easy in my opinion to do a musical revolution when you play Power Metal. This album could work, or could stay in the land of the unknow with a lot of other bands? That's the risk, time will tell?
But the real problem with this Demo, comes from the production. That's not good and very amateurish. If you want to understand how it sounds, let say that it sound like an average production of the beginning of the 80's, that's hard to hear all the parts of the music. That's not horrible don't worry, but [I have no doubt on it anyway] let's hope that it will be different with the new album.

Well this demo shows that Excalion is a real band. Understand that we have a real potentiality with this combo. If you like Power, you will like the upcoming album, but for the others it could be a bit harder to fall in love with this music from Finland, not because of the quality, but because of the lack of originality. But anyway, their first album is coming and we could have a better judgement soon after it? Time will talk?
