After a successful debut album, "Cholymelan" (1994), which gave them a permanent place in the electro-gothic/dark scene, Diary Of Dreams released the second chapter of dreams or nightmares and the name of it "End Of Flowers", released by Adrian Hates' label, Accession Records.

Inspiration and esoteric desolate beauty are the main characteristics of "End Of Flowers", characteristics that come straight from Adrian Hates' dreams; and so his music and lyrics are a? Diary Of Dreams. An integral and exceptionally important part of Diary Of Dreams' creativity is their lyrics which are pure poetry bleeding with emotion, filled with double meanings, metaphors, symbolisms and, above all, heart and soul.

As for the music, electro-gothic seems to be fitting perfectly the soundscapes that Diary Of Dreams are exploring, having an intense dark/gloomy aesthetic in one hand, on the other hand unfolding a gothic rock approach, more as a philosophy rather than in song structure, adorned with electronic elements. The fragile guitar chords or the slight guitar riffing adorn the soundscape with their beautifully desolate sound, the bass lines along with the, either imposing or rhythmic, drumming/beat lend the ideal pulse to the compositions and the distressing/bleak/desperate piano pieces with the intense or more fragile synth-born melodies evoke either a haunting or an elated, full of melancholy and depression, atmosphere, dressing in the most appropriate way Adrian's utterly esoteric and emotional lyrics. And then his voice starts echoing, a voice so personal, so unearthly beautiful, so sonorous and imposing yet so fragile and divine. A cry coming from the depths of an imprisoned angel, chained in the corridors of his soul with his precious wings torn apart.

The compositions consisting of "End Of Flowers" balance between melancholic serenity and more upbeat ways of expression, bleak and sorrow-filled still. In the first category of the tranquil compositions lie pearls of emotional beauty like the deeply personal and sincere "Oblivion" and the bleeding with despair and loss of hope "Tears Of Laughter". In the second category with the more upbeat compositions and more dynamic parts escalating the emotional charge of the overall atmosphere lie songs like the haunting "Cold Deceit", the renowned "Retaliation", the distressing "Willow", the agonizing and groovy "Victimized" and in between float masterpieces like the divine and melancholically tranquil "Deviation" that becomes more and more intense as it flows, the heart-rending, but intense, "Eyesolation" etc.

"End Of Flowers" is a must-have piece of Art for all the gothic music adorers, if you don't own it, I'm sorry, it's your fault; but never forget that it's never too late to do yourself a favor and finally open a? Diary Of Dreams?
