Should I shake his hand, or not?

This was a hard one to guess, with a name like Job For A Cowboy and an album entitled "Doom" what could I expect? Doom Metal? Folk Metal? Country Music?
This was cleared to me after the first spin of the album, these kids (yeah, they're still in high school) were playing a popular (and infamous at the same time) genre: Metalcore.

Let's take a break here, Metalcore? Yeah, the mixture of Metal and Hardcore is called Metalcore, both heavy, crunchy, aggressive musical genres. It became really popular in the late nineties and now is a whole revolution specially on American kids. I know many of you will stop reading after this, because "Metalcore is not Metal", and I say, well... depends.

When I write the word Metalcore, you picture bland, poppy, pseudo-punk acts with some riffing here and there? Think again, this is the real deal here, Metalcore, the way it should have been from the beginning of times. This is serious stuff, Job For A Cowboy plays a rabid mix of Technical Death Metal, Grindcore and Hardcore, the result is really chaotic and intense.

The band shows real potential here, riffing is insane, although not too flashy, drumming is quite competent and as a matter of fact, one of the best assets of the band, vocals range from a undecipherable deep growls, to angst-driven screams to totally horrendous pig squeals (who said squealing like a pig is singing?). Anyway, this combination will ensure a healthy session of slamdance.

If you want a taste at real Metalcore, take a look at this, if you like Grindcore and Technical Death Metal, I bet you'll find this interesting as well. Promising Ep from a young band, I bet we'll hear from them again.

DOOM is absolutely amazing! In my opinion it deserves higher than 7.5. Great production and the vocals are insane.
