I've always loved technical or prodigious music; my work as a reviewer often gives me the chance to discover new bands offering stuff that I could like. Lye By Mistake is one of them fortunately, showing one of the most amazing methodological explosions I've heard this year.

This band plays a crazy kind of Alternative metal; they use hardcore elements mixed with progressive metal overtones while all of this gets wrapped with Avant-prog and old school RIO (Rock-In-Opposition), really weird don't you think? Yes weird, but it's actually an amazing combo; you'll get a monster band surpassing bands like Psyopus, Behold? The Arctopus and even Mr. Bungle, if that doesn't strikes you I really don't know what will.

"Ok, I've heard this before man!" some of you may say, I know many of you have The Dillinger Escape Plan walking in your mind right now; Lye By Mistake does resemble the aforementioned band but just a little bit as they were smart enough to add many fresh structures and way more insane passages all over the place (that's why I said Mr. Bungle actually). The band is also really versatile when it comes to songwriting, they didn't focus to just one line obviously; they layered the music a lot to finally present a multifaceted product which becomes really easy on the ear. So if you ask me, I say Lye By Mistake is a million years better than The Dillinger Escape Plan period.

Now to the best part, the execution; you can't get tighter than this you know? Even though this is their debut full-length they do not sound rigid at all, on the contrary, the sound is totally organized and professional. Throughout the whole album you'll hear all kind of chromatic progressions, irregular timing, explosive beats and all that kind of technical stuff we're all used to; I can assure you won't get disappointed in that area, as Lye By Mistake is, musically, one hell of a band and even more than that.

This album is pure gold if you like the genre; if you are looking for an intense album filled with all kind of bizarre approaches, a great layout (the inside cartoon is incredible), decent lyrical content, intricate arrangements and overwhelmingly technical music, this has to be your next purchase for sure.

Best Tracks: "Ostrich Feathers And Apple Pie", "Nero's Intention", "If We Were Intense, This Song Would Be A Boyscout"

Bizarre, Technical, Almost Unique
