Between Paradise Lost (period Draconian Time) and Tiamat, Cemetery of Scream could become one of the new sensations of the Gothic Metal scene. "The Event Horizon" is however their fifth album, and to be honest I didn't hear anything about them until today but, with the quality of their last release I have the feeling that this lack of promotion and recognition should change quickly?

"The Event Horizon" is an album of Gothic Metal, but it's really varied. The songs can use mid-tempo rhythms with strong heavy riffs like on "Prophet" or at the opposite, they can be faster with electronic sounds. This kind of variation is really interesting because the album is never linear and at the end, never boring. Plus when I'm talking about electronic sounds, don't believe that we're in front of something "industrial", actually this is more something like Paradise Lost's "Symbol Of Life". This mix of Piano, Keyboards and electronic music is not repulsive at all, at the opposite in addition of the different form of guitars riffs, it gives a really nice atmospheric atmosphere to the music of Cemetery of Scream.

I like this album because as I said at the beginning of the review, we're in front of something varied. Always dark and a bit sad but never oppressive or disturbing, "The Event Horizon" is a beautiful album. Plus the voice of the new singer Sebastian Góralik gives a lot of possibilities, and you'll be able to see that the band had the possibility to write a lot of different songs, from fast catchy ones like "In His Room" to sweet acoustic ballads like "The Secret Window". Tip top?

The production is also really good, it's a trend with Metal Mind but one more time the band had the luck to record its album with really professional conditions (which means that the sound is really good) and the booklet is nice full of information, lyrics, nice artworks and pictures. Nothing to add?

All the fans of Paradise Lost and Tiamat will like this album. I don't want to say that it is the best album of the year in the category, but for sure this is a really beautiful surprise. Plus when you know that this time we're in front of an album that doesn't lack of originality and variations, I'm sure that you understand that you'll have to try to find it? Just classy?
