The more I listen to Solitude Aeturnus the more I love this band. I mean that I like Doom anyway but the American bands (with of course the mighty Candlemass and Cathedral) which play in the same category are always great, don't ask me why. As you already know Solitude Aeturnus is among my favourite Doom bands and I'm happy today to present you their first DVD "Hour Of Despair", a good way to pass an amazing "Doomy" moment.

Recorded the 12 of February 2007 in Poland by the really good Metal Mind production team, "Hour Of Despair" is a perfect DVD which will help you to discover Solitude Aeturnus if you don't know them yet. Formed in 1987 by the guitarist John Perez, the band plays a great old school Doom , in the vein of Cathedral and Candlemass. This is classic on a way but so good that it's impossible to dislike their music despite the fact that (of course) the tempo of their songs is slow in general. But it rocks nonetheless and they have THE perfect weapon in their line-up, Robert Lowe who is for me one of the best singers of his generation. It's catchy and it rocks and the DVD is the perfect proof to prove that Doom Metal can be amazing live if it's played by a great band (this is the case here of course).

"Hour Of Despair" features a lot of new songs which come from the last album of the combo ("Alone" 2006) but also some classics like "Falling" or "Haunting The Obscure". The set list is not so long and the concert is a bit short on a side (only 1 hour and 10 minutes) but it's perfectly filmed and the sound is just perfect. The DVD is a bit simple with some few bonuses (some bonus videos and that's all) but the concert is perfect and I have to congratulate the band for its performance but also the label which released a great DVD, something which deserve your money if you like great Doom and rock music.

I have nothing to add finally, "Hour Of Despair" is simply a must and I hope now that I will have the luck to see this band live on stage. Be sure of one thing, after that you'll have watched this concert, I'm quite sure that you'll find a way to see this band live too. "Hour Of Despair" is a simple DVD but it's a great one and damn Solitude Aeturnus is just killer! Amazing!

Strange that you had Tomorrow's Dead as track 12 on both the dvd and cd, for the copy I bought yesterday has Falling as track 12.
