Mesmerize are a classic Heavy Metal band from Italy, and they mean 80's Classic, no keyboards, no drum machines, just double guitars and high pitched vocals, and of course, bass and drums (duh!)

This Cd was intended as an Ep, but instead these guys released a double Cd, one with 4 new songs, and the second one with 5 cover songs. They could just release one Cd with all that stuff, but they went for the double Cd thing.

The first Cd opens with "Vultures Paradise" your typical Heavy Metal song, strongly influenced by Saxon and Dio, nice chorus though. "The Cube" is a more mid-paced song, didn's caught my attention too much, but "Screams Of A Dying World" did! This is a great song! Starts slowly, but it builds up into this incredible song! Definitively my favorite song in the disc. The last song "Chains Of Life" is more Hard-Rock oriented, so, I didn't like it as much as the others.

So, the covers CD, starts with "D'ailleurs" of Sortilege, never heard of this band, so I don't know if the version is close to the original, but this track is sung in French, like the original.
"Winter Tears" by Warlord is next, great song, good cover, but the real highlight is "Tierra Santa" of the Spaniards Tierra Santa (meaning "Holy Ground"), being a big fan of them I found this a really good cover song, and as a bonus, the singer can sing in Spanish! God knows how many European singers tried to sing in Spanish and failed miserably, as a native Spanish speaker, I think that Folco Orlandini (the singer) has good Spanish knowledge, but in the other hand, since he's Italian, isn't THAT hard due to the similarities of the 2 languages.

The album goes on with a cover of Black Sabbath's "Die Young" and it wraps things up with another version of the after mentioned track "Tierra Santa" but this time singed in English.

Anyway, since we have only 4 songs here, is difficult to give this one thumbs up or thumbs down, so I'll just say, if you love those classic 80's Heavy Metal tunes, get this one.
