It's been a while that I was awaiting a real good album of Death Metal from a newcomer. As you know nowadays all the new combos choose to play music a la In Flames and it's really sad because the snake is only beating its tail and we rarely have good new original things. "Where The Dreams No Longer Exist", the second album of the Serbians of Amon Din will not be an original album because the band plays classic Death Metal but this release is really good with a lot of great things and it's just cool to see that some bands still want to play such music.

Even if Amon Din doesn't play Gothenburg Death Metal, it doesn't mean that the band only play brutal things. Actually "Where The Dreams No Longer Exist" is a good compromise between old school Death Metal and Melodic Death Metal. The songs are fast and furious with big blasting drums and big Death vocals but the riffs are always really complex and melodic. The songs are not extremely fast, they're not slow but aren't fast like the ones of Morbid Angel, this is a lot more insistent but really hypnotic on a side. What I like the most on "Where The Dreams No Longer Exist" is that we have great melodies, but don't worry when I talk about melodies, I'm not talking about stuff like "Cloud Connected", this release is an album of real Death Metal with that's right a lot of catchy riffs, melodies and choruses. Just have a look on "When The Sky Is Bleeding" and you'll probably enjoy a lot the riffs with some oriental influences when "Abysmall Ignorance" with its really fast riffs is a lot more Thrash in the spirit. This release is really good this is not the most extreme stuff that we've heard lately but it's great Death Metal with cool melodies.

The production of the album is correct, the sound is not perfect but really good nonetheless and the musicians are really convincing. The two guitarists are masters of riffs and soli, the drummer, a real machine, and the bassist are real metronome and the singer has a strong classic Death voice. It's hard to find anything wrong in this release, sure Amon Din doesn't re-invent the genre but at least they play cool Death and the fact that their music is Thrashy but also really technical is a great things. If you're looking for real Death with melodic arrangements you're in front of the album that you were looking for.

Don't wait anymore my friends, "Where The Dreams No Longer Exist" is the album which give you what you want to listen to. Melodic without being to calm, technical and inspired, "Where The Dreams No Longer Exist" is a great album of Death Metal. Let's hope now that the signature of the band on the promising Thundering records will help the guys to find a lot of fans, they deserve it. "Where The Dreams No Longer Exist" is highly recommended to all the people who like Death Metal, from its really melodic aspect to its extreme side.

I have seen this band live, as a support to Nile. I haven't listened to the album, but they played songs from it, and I have to say it was so conventional that it became boring.

That sounded more like a sales speach with name dropping than a review.
