Coming from Ireland, Ground Of Ruin plays some Blackened Thrash Metal (as we say?). This band was formed in 2003 but "Cloacked In Doctrine" can only be considerate as their second official release (plus two demos). This EP is cool actually and even if its only features three real songs (plus one introduction) we can already see that the band has a strong potential. If you're into aggressive dark music, I recommend you to check their music (at least on MySpace).

Three songs, in general, this is a bit fast to understand the music of a band but "Cloacked In Doctrine" is a really effective record. After a cool introduction, you can already smell napalm all around the record, and I can tell you that we're in front of some blasting riffs. Maybe that the music can be a bit simple and repetitive sometime but it works really well and the riffs are good and powerful. A bit like with Aura Noir, we have some really cool dirty ambiances on all the songs, however Ground Of Ruin is probably a bit more melodic and technical (which can be good for some of you, like a bit more boring if you only want pure aggressive Black Thrash). All in all, if you like Black Metal or even Thrash you'll probably like this release, this is maybe not extremely original but it sounds really professional and the songs are solid.

Ground Of Ruin features good musicians and I didn't find any real problems on the album. Plus the recording is good so all in all the production is more than correct and really professional for a self-released EP. Of course the band will have to release an album to prove that I'm right but I'm sure that they can doo good things. This EP is good so why not?

Ground Of Ruin is a promising combo from Ireland. Let's wait their first album but I can tell you that they will probably find success in the heart of the metalheads who use to listen to such kind of music. Let's keep an eye on the band and have a look at their EP if you can, really you shouldn't be disappointed!
