Reviewer's log: Saturn date 00.00:00 Three things we know so far: (1) Guido Campiglio is a renowned Italian guitar virtuoso, (2) as it turns out, Saturn is the dude's sophomore release, and (3) the accompanying press sheet looks very promising. I'm all set, let's explore the domain of this Italian finger dancer.

Reviewer's log: Saturn date 01.03:27 Wait, abort, abort! That's his A-material?? Oh, mio Dio. Bad call on picking out a weak opener for your album, Guido.

Reviewer's log: Saturn date 01.06:11 Ow for the love of fuck, it just doesn't stop with this guy, does it? As the neo-classical-schooled shred journey continues, I gradually lose all hope of ever encountering a vocalist.

Reviewer's log: Saturn date 01.19:33 I find myself ankle deep in more bombastic riffs. By now the guitar wankery become close to unbearably cheesy; pretty sure even Manowar would chuckle. I'm considering terminating this quest - reason: borderline boring - but manage to get a hold of myself (thanks to Commander Lawson William).

Reviewer's log: Saturn date 01.24:37 Final song is kicking in. I'm now fully aware of the subtle "try-too-hard" undertone of this good-but-not-great album. Though, in a totally non-sexual way I somehow feel attracted to this man. Let's give this baby another go.

Reviewer's log: Saturn date 02.11:54 86.204 guitar chords later, I finally picked up the trace of a gem in this ADD guitar-picking-fest universe. "Rubik" is probably the best song altogether.

Reviewer's log: Saturn date 02.17:26 Not sure if I can take any more of those overpowering majestic shred ballads. There's so much electricity in the air, it made most of my computing devices explode, while the boxes of my stereo just ran away screaming. I'm on my own now. Smack in the middle of a ho-hum, so-so type of record. And surrounded by hungry riff fetishists... But I like it!

Reviewer's log: Saturn date 03.21:07 I'm deep into my third listen and by now Guido Campiglio convinced me of his mad skills. I'm also more than certain his excellent guitar play will eventually destroy us all just like the Maya's predicted. However, the truth is he just strung together a bunch of wicked riffs and called it an album. Not sure if these shredders realize that with releasing such shred-based albums centered on the guitars only, they take a big risk of cannibalizing their own magic. And I miss a voice.

Reviewer's log: Saturn date 04.26:24 I hereby declare this mission officially over. This not-going-anywhere trip was enjoyably directionless. In the end the endeavor was not that bad. But they don't give you a Grammy for being not that bad - well, actually these days they do, but that's not the point right now. If you're one of those shred dorks that goes totally apeshit in the Guitar Hero playground, this one's for you. End log.

I love your "exercice de style" type of review, truly entertaining! I don't know if I'll check tnis one out, though, it seems like I'm tired of those shredding for the sake of shredding albums...

Good review, just checked this album out and it's just random riff after random riff. Plus the shredding is just okay. Pass.

Truly a great review. Sometimes when you try to keep people from trying something, you make them all the more curious. I'm way more repelled by the drums than the guitar though. Either he used a computer for that or corset-cover-lady recorded the whole thing in her bathroom while the shower was running.
