Now that's what I call a black metal album art! It has everything a disciple of Satan could want and more. In the top right we find a hard-to-read logo and the picture itself shows a blackened sky and not only an old church but also some ruins in the background. The focus however is on a bunch of bald men with blood-streaked faces and torsos, one of them nailed to the cross and even a woman showing side-boobs! Personally I can't think of much that could be added to make the art more evil than it already is.

Well I hope the sarcasm was obvious enough because in fact I actually consider it a pretty horrendous and quite ridiculous artwork. The music on the other hand is a lot better than the cover led me to believe. Basically the band plays an extremely symphonic oriented type of black metal/extreme gothic metal, the special part about this however, is that opposed to the usual growls and shrieks, we get a clean, female singer behind the mic this time.

Usually I prefer my black metal raw and cold, but I quite enjoy the massive keyboard sound in conjunction with the choirs and fast drumming of this album. At times the songwriting even has a vague progressive touch to it. The vocals however definitely need some getting used to and while they're not bad, there's still a lot of room for improvement, especially where variation is concerned.

The combination doesn't work on all of the songs. But if this sounds like it's your kind of thing it's definitely worth checking out. One thing is for sure though, to enjoy this album you must definitely be a fan of kitsch and exaggerated keyboards. If you aren't, there isn't the slightest chance in hell you'll like this album.

Good album and was a discovery for me, although my type of metal is slightly lighter, this is one of the better melodic death for my ears, but again it is definitely not for everyone...
