The band Sepultura can be divided in 2 main paths, the first path is their best in my opinion, filled with Thrash albums, pure violence, aggression, marvelous music etc... Then we have the second path, a little Nu-Metal headed, catchy (even poppy) riffs, a new vocalist with odd Thrash-less ideas, etc...After some years of hearing the 2nd path Roadrunner Records decided that the fans needed some of the older Sepultura back to head-bang...So for the fans, the last tour with the good old Max.
Under A Pale Grey Sky is a great live album, filled with the classic tunes like "Troops Of Doom", "Dead Embryonic Cells", "Polícia", "Refuse/Resist", etc...(Where's "Septic Schizo", "Empire Of The Damned", etc… Beats Me), we can hear again the shivering and powerful vocalizations of Max Cavalera, the Thrash oriented riffs are all over the album, and every single thing we used to love is there, so yes, this album is directed mainly to the old fans, too bad for the new Sepultura fans cause I am very sure they won't understand this album by any means.
The mixing is marvelous, I can't remember the last time I heard a Live recording with such a great audio, the guy who mastered and mixed this concert CD (Colin Richardson) knows the shit for sure, there is no flaw in this matter, I am very impressed actually due to the fact that most live albums have this awful muddy sound, I am not disappointed at all, this album is perfect even in that subject.
There's not much I can say about this CD, just that I highly recommend you to buy it, try not to download this album cause the marvelous audio will be lost for sure, so if you want a dose of pure hatred, Thrash riffs and well...Older Sepultura, grab this album now you won't regret, it's actually flawless(*)
(*)Except for the artwork which is actually somehow dull, small and actually pointless, and of course the lack of great tracks like the ones I already mentioned. But anyway I think we can't ask for more actually, this live album is purely amazing. |

| never knew about this album...good to know now. some songs are still around the decline of old sepultura but thats ok always if old line-up is present...If I see it around I might buy it and give it a try...just for the love of old sepultura. |

| The audio is huge (even in the Mp3 format hehehe). I have to tell you RR released this album 'cause Sep singed a 7 album contract with them and Sep was mad at RR cause they did a shitty promotion of "Nation" so they didn't want record under that label anymore. The label did this not for the fans it was only to complete the contract. |
