My favorite metal subgenre is Atmospheric Black Metal. I like the atmosphere it creates. I also don't have any thing against all forms of extreme metal, but I don't like power metal, symphonic metal and alternative metal. I haven't ventured into doom metal, but I should do. Soon enough.
I have a one-man "lo-fi" atmospheric/melodic black metal project by the name of Blizzards, under the pseudonym Oaken Bough. I did a little, 5-minute instrumental demo tape this summer:
