Dragonland - Best To Worst

One of the things I like most about Dragonland is their Death Metal roots. They wanted to expand outside the scope of Death Metal and mixed their formula with power, symphonic, and progressive sounds. Combine all those styles and you get Dragonland's epic sound.

1. Dragonland - Astronomy
2006 Amazing variety on this one. Simply a masterpiece. I strongly recommend this album.
2. Dragonland - Starfall
2004 Again great variety on this piece. They experimented with different concepts and it pays in dividends. "The Book of Shadows" suite is epic!
3. Dragonland - Under The Grey Banner
2011 3rd part in the "Dragon Chronicle" series. Pro: Production quality at it's highest. Con: Orchestra dominated their usual blazing guitars.
4. Dragonland - Holy War
2002 One of their cheesiest albums. But it's awesome power cheese. Highlights: The Majesty Of The Mithril Mountains, Calm Before the Storm.
5. Dragonland - The Battle Of The Ivory Plains
2001 Although a nice debut album, I found it hard to get into this one. The plus side, it introduces the listener to the Dragon chronicles.

Exactly the order I'd place them, despite having yet to give their new album a go.

Great band, though I think albums 1,2,3 are tied for best IMO.

Astronomy has the best orchestrations and by far the most catchy and easily-accessable, but it is just a tad bit too poppy.
StarFall has great powermetal and good mix of catchyness and complexity, but its a bit standard and lacks the flair of the other two albums.
The Grey has great blend of symphonic/power and even folk and my fave lyrics of DL but lacks a punch of power at times.

I dont Think I could choose one album over the other b/c they are all great in their own ways and what one album lacks the other album has.

I would place Grey at 2nd place but I still thumbed up. Respect to anyone who acknowledges the talent of this band...

I know right? I feel like these guys fly under the radar. Since Olof Mörck is so active in Amaranthe, I don't think he can devote enough time to Dragonland so these guys release albums few and far in between. Not as bad as Wintersun by any means, but I think they have too much talent to wait so many years between albums IMHO.

Totally agree and I prefer them a lot more than Amaranthe...
