Thumbs up: +4
I metronomed these and many more to make a definite double-bass chart. BUT IT'S NOT EVEN NEARLY FINISHED YET, so make suggestions.
These are the studio versions, but I often point out if the a live version is different.

Only one song per band, but not necessarily per drummer. Unless if they are over 15 nps and both (or all) at the same speed.
EDIT: Nah, after all, I'm going count every performance over 15 nps. Slower ones shall be taken down at some point.
Also, small rolls don't count. The track must have 16 consecutive hits for it to be listed.

EDIT: Maybe I won't cut 'em slows out, those give some perspective if the faster songs aren't familiar to someone.

Bands that I need to go through more:
Misery Index
(New) Dying Fetus
Putridity
Lust of Decay
Divine Heresy
Belphegor
Mithras
Brain Drill
Disavowed
Hate Eternal
All That Remains
As Blood Runs Black
The Faceless
Spawn Of Possession
Gorod
Chimaira
Cattle Decapitation

After 18.5 nps, almost every performance is somehow cheated. Triggering ain't that much of a cheat, since the sound would be a bloody mess without, but double strokes etc. seem to be the only way to go.
UNLESS you are Hannes Grossman or George Kollias. They pretty much only use triggering for productional purposes and have demonstrated their ability of single untriggered single-strokes on their vids. Also, I'm pretty sure that Romain Goulon, Fotis, Inferno, Vyl, Kevin Foley and Daray could do something similar, though I have no definite proof.

On Hellhammer I must say that he's a complete cheater, but that just makes him great; on every aspect on his playing he is always coming up with techniques to ease his playing. Composition-wise he's a great guy, but TRVV KVLT DABBLÖ BÄZZ METVL-wise not that much.

Just saw that Mauro Mercurio has vids of himself playing 20.5 nps at Youtube. Worth mentioning.

I'm surprised there's no Anaal Nathrakh in there.
Vombatus - 02.11.2012 at 00:32
^it's a machine, and I doubt the live version is just as fast.
psykometal - 02.11.2012 at 09:05
Kinda surprised no Tim Yeung (Divine Heresy) or Trey Williams (Dying Fetus). Should also look into Jordan Varela (Lust of Decay) and Davide "Brutal Dave" Billia (Putridity).

I'm surprised there's no Anaal Nathrakh in there.

Anaal Nathrakh use blastbeats primarily, which use a snare/high-hat/bass drum combination, meaning there won't be any ridiculous speed double bass.... usually
