There is also a new Adorned Brood which I have yet to listen to. Also would you consider Varg to be Folk? The latest album not in any case I suppose...

I'll add Adorned Brood to the to-listen list, thank you And I fucking hate Varg, plus I've been told his latest album is pure shit.
Cynic Metalhead - 02.12.2012 at 18:31
Pretty disappointed to see "Eluveitie's Helvetios" so low, must be in top 10 I guess.

other than that, great work. will check it out more.

Haha, was never such a huge fan of theirs either but they do have some good songs.
Also check out Black Messiah and their 2012 release :O They are listed as "Pagan" but I always viewed that the same as Folk In any case, some really fun songs on there. To be a Man, Windloni and Der Ring Mit Dem Kreuz are my favorite.

Pagan, Viking, Celtic, Oriental, etc; all are subdivisions of FOLK METAL.

And that's another one on the waiting list. I like fun(ny) folk. Thanks, man

Frankly, you're not missing out on anything
just listen to the top 3 if you change your mind

Edit: just listen to the ones that are not on MS's database.

Don't think I've heard anything that's not here already, except for Krampus. At all costs I would recommend steering clear of it.

Oh I won't, then. I only intend to listen to the albums listed in the description, and that's if I'm lucky enough to find the time.

But there's always time for folk Fredd! I've heard most of what you have in the list, none of those in the description though.

Daaamn that's a lot of folk. I've listened to some of it obviously, I'll have to give some of your top picks a listen. I was disappointed with Ensiferum, of course. I was disappointed with Elvenking too. I liked Eluveitie's more than you did, and Favna Abisal, Wintersun and Borknagar were great.
