09:39 - Jaeryd17 Are you kidding? I loved the ending to Mass Effect 3. I think everyone was just looking for a happy ending and threw a toddler-fit because they didn't get it. Also, Boxcar, have you played Fallout 1 or 2 yet?
06:45 - huascaman The EA sports NHL games are the best. \m/
06:29 - Unhealer Jaeryd17, agree Mass Effect is excellent. Also, I didn't mind the so-hated ending that much.
06:23 - BoxCar Willy I really only play Fallout. Ive beaten both at least 10 times, (new Vegas probably even more). They are just the best, they capture everything I love. They just need a metal soundtrack and dirtbikes. Lol.
06:20 - Jaeryd17 No best game series, I don't think... but Mass Effect comes incredibly close. Love me some Halo, Metroid, Zelda, Borderlands, Battlefield, and Elder Scrolls, though.
05:59 - psykometal I've done like dozens of playthroughs using the Oghma to level boost, to try out several different character builds (since there used to not be respec option), so I now I want to actually complete it, or come real close. :)
A lot of bands have great debut albums. Obviously this list is just a fraction of all the great debut albums out there, but it's a start. I'll keep expanding this list continuously, so all suggestions are welcome. My favourite genres are Doom, Black and Gothic Metal, but I also like Progressive, Thrash and Death Metal. All albums on this list are at least worth an 8/10 rating. I included genres of each album as well.
Dismember - Like An Everflowing Stream
Cynic - Focus
Deafheaven - Roads to Judah
Devin Townsend - Ocean Machine: Biomech Godflesh - Streetcleaner
Killing Joke - Killing Joke King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin
Mastodon - Remission
Lurker of Chalice - Lurker of Chalice
Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness The Doors - The Doors The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced
Thanks for the suggestions. (nice top 10 movies by the way; I've seen 9 out of those 10 movies, but I'd order them differently )
I'm curious, which one haven't you seen? Recommended in advance.
Definitely approve Nosurper's idea of
Godflesh - Streetcleaner
Lurker of Chalice - Lurker of Chalice
One being the monolith of industrial metal to me and the second one being some of the eeriest ambient black metal around.
Damn, that is some hard to "digest" music, I'll give you that. I added Lurker Of Chalice since I was intrigued by it (very eerie indeed). I'm not sure what to think about Godflesh, so I'll give it at least one more spin. Both of those cannot be judged easily, that's for sure. By the way, Lurker Of Chalice reminded me of "Unlock The Shrine".
If you're a thrash fan you should consider putting this album:
Witheria - Infernal Maze
fucking insane debut. The whole album is great.
I'm definitely no thrash fan. However (!), I recently found out I like it more than I thought, hence why there's a few thrash albums in this list. The main genres in this list will probably always remain (death/)doom, gothic and black, but I do like to put the greatest albums of thrash, progressive and death metal in the list. The only genres you'll never see here are power and alternative/nu-metal, because I don't like those at all.

Np, but make sure to give it a spin, its Death/Thrash metal, so you'll probably enjoy it alot.
Some i think are missing are; Amorphis - The Karelian Isthmus, Anaal Nathrakh - The Codex Necro, Ancient Wisdom - For Snow..., At The Gates - The Red In The Sky Is Ours, Cloak Of Altering - The Night Comes Illuminated..., Darkspace - I, De Magia Veterum - Spikes Through Eyes, Diablo Swing Orchestra - Butcher's Ballroom..... I won't go through them all but there's a few

Someone here told me Amorphis' debut isn't worthy, so I didn't check it out. I have yet to listen to the others you mentioned. I listened to Diablo Swing Orchestra but I didn't like it... too cheery for my taste. I might give it a second chance though.

Amorphis' debut is absolutely fantastic, one of my favorite death metal albums of all time. Definitely worth checking out if you ask me
Mournful Congregation - Monad Of Creation isn't actually their debut, that would be Tears from a Grieving Heart even though they self released that
Ah, didn't know that. But since MS doesn't feature that album, I'm not going to remove The Monad Of Creation. That is, unless you (or anyone else) has a problem with it?

I don't really have a problem with it since I won all of them and Mournful COngregation should be mentioned here, that's the most important thing.

Haha, what do you mean you won them? I was definitely impressed and it didn't seem like traditional funeral doom at all (though I admit I don't know a lot about that subgenre), with even folkish tunes? All in all, it did appeal to me, but it's not the kind of album that can be judged easily.
Any other essentials for this list? I think I shouldn't have asked that to you though.
A few nice suggestions (mainly the black metal ones), but why did you suggest Forever Storm and Iced Earth? You should know by now I dislike power metal (yeah I know, I have Wintersun on this list, but they are an exception).
Midnight Odyssey's Funerals From The Astral Sphere should definitely be on here. Two hours of beautiful black metal.
Damn you. I haven't got time enough to listen to this great music. Just 10 minutes in and I already love it, so I'm definitely going to put it in the list when I've listened to the whole album.

It's quite a trek to get through, but it's entirely worth it

As you know by now, I usually need to listen to albums more than once to really form an opinion on it, though I immediately like this album a lot. What would you rate this album?

I've listened to this album quite a few times (probably 50 or so), and my opinion has stayed the same through every listen. I'd probably give it about a 9.2 or 9.3

Whoa, so basically you listened 100 hours to this album, that's impressive. I need to listen to it a few times, but I already think this will be a 9 or higher easily. Totally awesome stuff.

I remember the first week I found it I listened to the album on repeat 24/7 (not literally but you get it lol)
More suggestions; Ævangelist, Ahab, Thergothon, Skepticism, Nortt, and Evoken. All funeral doom excluding Ævangelist
EDIT: Also; Sunn O))) and Hjarnidaudi for some drone
Also you must be finding a lot of good bands through this list EMols
Lol, this album isn't even on the list... but thanks for the +1! That being said, I'll check that debut out. And yes, I do find a lot of good bands through this list.

Well, I just added Ahab. Thergothon was already on my list, but the others aren't (yet). I don't think I'm too fond of drone, but I'm not sure.
The album that started it all for them. A masterpiece.
Good one tea[m]ster. Emols, since your thrash interest is budding, perhaps Eternal Nightmare by Vio-Lence for an addition?
Rosetta, huh? Like drone, I'm pretty unfamiliar with sludge as well. Should I listen to both discs synchronized or seperately?
Never have heard of Eternal Nightmare, but I'll check it out. I believe a few people (including Nosurper) suggested Cynic - Focus, but I didn't really like it all that much (just listened to it). Also don't understand why people go on about The Butcher's Ballroom... That's just too over-the-top for me, couldn't even finish listening to the album.

I was meaning +1 to someone else's suggestion that it should be added, a few posts before mine

Together. Post/sludge metal isn't for everyone. Promise me you will listen to the album front to back. Don't give up on it. The whole thing is epic. Lemme know what you think if you do it.

Okay, I promise I'll listen to the whoie thing together. It's still weird though... never heard of that being possible before. If I like it I'll add it along with 4 other albums, which will make it a top 100. I listen to about 5 new albums per week (sometimes longer), so expect the update next week.
Nice list, now that I thumbed up I must contribute a few albums:
Avrigus - The Secret Kingdom - Atmospheric/Gothic Crown Of Autumn - The Treasures Arcane - Atmospheric Doom/Folk Crimfall - As the Path Unfolds... - Symphonic Folk Dark Lunacy - Devoid - Symphonic/Melodic Death Hollenthon - Domus Mundi - Symphonic Death/Folk Orkrist - Reginae Mysterium - Symphonic/Folk Doom Virgin Black - Sombre Romantic - Gothic

Thanks! Already had Dark Lunacy on my to-listen list and I didn't like Virgin Black a lot (strange, I know, considering I like similar bands a lot), though I listened to their second album, not their debut.
Have 2 more for this list for you to check out: Draugnim - Northwind's Ire (2008) - Atmospheric/Pagan Black Rivendell - The Ancient Glory (2000) - Epic Black/Folk (Tolkien influenced)
