Ace Frawley's Favourite Anti-Religion Songs

Thumbs up: +2
If you believe in God then bad luck, some people have a different view than you - get over it. Don't write to me.

1. Amon Amarth - Surtur Rising
"Slaves of Fear" - "They're feeding you lies, with calculating smiles... religion is what makes you blind" - a killer song and I love the sound of those drum sticks counting in at the start.
2. Darkest Hour - The Eternal Return
"No God" - "There's no god, it's all an illusion" - 'nuff said.
3. Slayer - Christ Illusion
"Skeleton Christ" - "It's all a fuckin' mockery" - King pulls no punches when it comes to Christianity.
4. Machine Head - The Blackening
"Halo" - "Following a god so blind... swallow not, the shit they feed" - an angry song and it has a cool video clip to go with it.
5. Ghost - Opus Eponymous
"Ritual" - this song is hilarious, just read the lyrics. Great sound though. A reminder of those seventies hard rock bands.
6. Bloodbath - Resurrection Through Carnage
"Cry My Name" - "and when you seek forgiveness, you'll see there is no god" - great closing track to a great death metal album.
7. Ghost - Infestissumam
"Year Zero" - love the chanting at the start "Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Satanas, Lucifer" and the "Hail Satan" in the chorus. Really cool sounding song by the modern masters of taking the piss out of Christianity.

I'm going to add to this over time - this is just a start. If you have any suggestions, let me know, but I'm only adding songs that I know from my collection. Yes, I know that limits the list but hey, you can't have everything.

Slayer - God Hates Us All? (in your collection)

DD

Yeah, I have that album but don't particularly like it. There are so many Slayer songs I could choose for the list.

Draconian - Expostulation?

Very atmospheric/gothic interlude, about the fall of Lucifer and his banishment from Heaven.
Not sure if Draconian is in your collection, just worth a suggestion. *Hey that rhymes*

Theatre Of Tragedy - And When He Falleth. Love the conversation in that song (about religion of course).

I'm going to be back soon with some more suggestions I hope. Why? Because I dislike (mildly put) religion in general.

Surely something Behemoth fits here.
Bloodbath - Mock the Cross or Cancer of the Soul
Fear Factory - Christploitation
Fleshgod Apocalypse - In Honor of Reason
Hypocrisy - Adjusting the Sun
Nile - Kafir!
Vital Remains - Icons of Evil

Just on the top of my head!

Gave you a thumbs up since it's a good idea for a list, but it's rather short now. Totally forgot I commented on this list months ago, but I still returned.

Anyway, I can't promise anything, but I'm going to search for songs that you can add to this list.

By the way, this album is full of really over-the-top satanic stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6KXREfCbu0 The vocals can be really annoying to some people, but I like them. But it's great black metal nonetheless.

Thank you for returning. You are right, the list is short. I need to add to it at some stage.

So? Back then it was considered religion. All religions are just as much myths like the "real" myths. The difference is that those are considered myths because it's generally accepted. If children were being thought at school that Norse mythology (for example) was true then it would've been considered religion now. The problem is, religious people can't see that this is the truth, but it really is.

There are tons of anti-religious songs out there. I'd suggest you King Crimson: Epitaph, because it is totally different from all of songs here. Also, not as "in your face" as these songs mentioned. Great track.

Who talked about religions? I am a semi-religious. Actually Arch Enemy's lyrics are really powerful and smell like chaos, specially their 2011 album. No gods, no masters. . . hmmmm

You said something about AA being about Norse gods and not Christ. Mentioning Christ links to religion if you ask me. What does being semi-religious mean exactly? You're either religious or not... but I assume you're agnostic, right?

I mean, a religious, but usually I forget to do my prayers and etc. I mean, not I am not a strong religious man. Did you ever read about Norse Mytholosy? So you should know that every god has his/her own power and prays. And many time, others try to show them liers and schemers, just like some AA lyrics.
