Hi my fellow stormers, I decided I'd create a list of albums that I enjoy alot, that I think metalheads should never miss. Each album down there influenced me one way or another and in my opinion, they're all masterpieces. Of course you might not agree with me, its okay, feel free to post comment but keep in mind that I won't take suggestions. You wanna give me suggestions fine but not for this list lol.
Oh also, there is no specific order to it, would be to hard, and there's only 1 album for each band. I might add some descriptions later on, right now I just don't feel like it lol.

Iron Maiden - Powerslave 1984 / United Kingdom / Heavy Metal / Favorite Songs: Aces High, Powerslave, 2 Minutes To Midnight / What is there to say about Powerslave that has not already been said. I mean, it is definitely a classic Heavy Metal album, its catchy, well thought, the riffs are insanely good... everything is there to make you headbang again and again. |
2.
Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I 1987 / Germany / Power Metal / Favorite Songs: I'm Alive, A Tale That Wasn't Right, Future World / Well Keeper Of The Seven Keys Pt. I is, in my opinion, the best power metal release of all time, nothing beats this work of art. The vocals, the music, the emotion, the fluidity of the album as a whole. Everything is there, its almost flawless. Why almost? Well because it is too short lol. |
3.
Baroness - Blue Record 2009 / USA / Progressive Sludge Metal / Favorite Songs: Jake Leg, Swollen and Halo, War, Wisdom and Rhyme / You know Baroness? Well you should. If you like a bit of sludge, a bit of prog and a bit of alternative mixed together, then Baroness was made for you. For me, this album is just a bit better than their previous one. Not only the music is awesom but also the artwork is incredibly beautiful. |
4.
Quo Vadis - Day Into Night 2000 / Canada / Technical Death Metal / Favorite Songs: On The Shores Of Ithaka, Hunter/Killer, Dream / Well I'm very proud to present you Quo Vadis's Day Into Night, a Canadian masterpiece. I know I listed this as Technical Death, but I would add melodic to this, because I've never enjoyed melodic death more than on this album. They just know how to mix this all together and deliver it to you like if it's something natural. This is not only a canadian classic but a Technical Death metal classic aswell. |
5.
Municipal Waste - The Art Of Partying 2007 / USA / Crossover Thrash Metal / Favorite Songs: The Art Of Partying, Sadistic Magician, A.D.D. / Yes, I know how most people feel towards modern thrash metal, but can you ignore the Waste? I think not. This release is spectacular, it's straight up in your face crossover thrash. Riffs are great, the intensity is there, simply a classic for me. |
6.
Barn Burner - Bangers 2010 / Canada / Stoner Metal / Favorite Songs: Holy Smokes, Fast Women, Beer Today Bong Tomorrow / This is a very young band from my canadian province of Quebec that perform brilliant stoner metal. Most people prefer their second album but in my opinion, the first one has this raw feel that the second lacks completely. There is simply no bad song on this release. Another hidden jewel. |
7.
Death - The Sound Of Perseverance 1998 / USA / Technical Thrash Metal / Favorite Songs: Scavenger Of Human Sorrow, Spirit Crusher, Flesh And The Power It Holds |
8.
Forbidden - Twisted Into Form 1990 / USA / Thrash Metal / Favorite Songs: Infinite, Twisted Into Form, Step By Step / If you think you're into thrash metal and you do not know Twisted Into Form, well my friend, you don't know shit about thrash metal. This is a classic album, the riffs are well thought and insanely performed, the vocals are majestic, there is no flaw to this release. I suggest you listen to this at full blast right away. |
9.
Kylesa - Spiral Shadow 2010 / USA / Progressive Sludge Metal / Favorite Songs: Spiral Shadow, To Forget, Tired Climb / I know Kylesa changed their sound quite a bit on this release, experimenting a more progressive and alternative sound, well for me it's their best effort yet, it does not have that same sludgy, crunchy sound from their previous releases but to me this new sound is vastly superior to anything they released before. A must if you're into bands like Mastodon, Torche and Baroness. |
10.
Mastodon - Leviathan 2004 / USA / Progressive Sludge Metal / Favorite Songs: Blood And Thunder, I Am Ahab, Hearts Alive |
11.
Pantera - Vulgar Display Of Power 1992 / USA / Groove Thrash / Favorite Songs: This Love, Fucking Hostile, Hollow / Yeah well there is not much to say about Vulgar Display Of Power, I mean the title says it all and I'm pretty sure everyone in here knows this work of art. Spectacular album indeed. |
12.
Saxon - Denim And Leather 1981 / United Kingdom / Heavy Metal / Favorite Songs: Princess Of The Night, Denim And Leather, And The Bands Played On |

17.
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence 1991 / USA / Technical Death Metal / Favorite Songs: Mother Man, Retribution, An Incarnation's Dream / You like Tech Death with a Jazzy sounding bass and drum? Well what about the veteran? Unquestionable Presence is Atheist at its very peek, their best effort to date and in my opinion one of the best Technical Death release ever created. It takes few spins to understand everything that is going on in this album, but once you get it, you just can't look back. This is a must for any Death metal fan. |
18.
Crass - Feeding Of The 5000 1978 / United Kingdom / Punk (yes yes, punk) / Favorite Songs: Do They Owe Us A Living, So What?, Punk Is Dead / Yeah I know, its a Metal website, but don't worry this is the only Punk release on my list. I just had to make you guys discover what punk really is, lyrically this band dominates anything punk has ever achieved. Crass is for Punk what Pink Floyd was for Prog. If you never heard of them, go check 'em out, if you like punk obviously. |

23.
Exodus - Bonded By Blood 1985 / USA / Thrash Metal / Favorite Songs: Strike Of The Beast, Bonded By Blood, Exodus / So you wanna talk classic albums ? There is one. You just can't try to understand thrash metal if you don't start with understanding this master piece of an album. Exodus first release is Exodus at their best unfortunately, I'm not saying they did not release amazing music after this, but anyone liking their more recent material MUST listen to this one. |
24.
Gwar - Scumdogs Of The Universe 1990 / USA / Hard To Say Really / Favorite Songs: The Salaminizer, Vlad The Impaler, Sick Of You / ''What? Did he really put a Gwar album in there?'' fuck yeah he did. But this is not simply a Gwar album, this is a classic Gwar album, Scumdog is fun, outrageous and it is Gwar's finest work. Nothing beats a live Gwar playing The Salaminizer. |

30.
Revocation - Chaos Of Forms 2011 / USA / Technical Thrash Metal / Favorite Songs: Conjuring The Cataclysm, Cradle Robber, Beloved Horrifier / First time I heard this band it was in Montreal, they were doing Children Of Bodom's first part, and they got me hooked with their live performance, their presence on stage. So I decided I would buy their latest, which was Chaos Of Forms, my my, that was a great discovery, I don't know how many times I made it spin but even after all that, it is still good. Its some strange mix between Tech Thrash and Tech Death... anyways a great album. |
31.
Stratovarius - Elements Part I 2003 / Finland / Power Metal / Favorite Songs: Eagleheart, Stratofortress, A Drop In The Ocean |

Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance 1982 / United Kingdom / Heavy Metal / Favorite Songs: Electric Eye, Screaming For Vengeance, You've Got Another Thing Comin' |
34.
Armored Saint - March Of The Saint 1984 / USA / Heavy Metal / Favorite Songs: Can U Deliver, March Of The Saint, Take A Turn / I always thought the members of this band were born in the wrong country at the wrong time. Armored Saint sounds exactly like a band from the NWOBHM but in the USA during Thrash Metal's breakthrough. I guess it is why they always been overlooked so much. Anyways March Of The Saint is a classic heavy metal release no one should ignore. |
35.
Arch Enemy - Anthems Of Rebellion 2003 / Sweden / Melodic Death Metal / Favorite Songs: Dead Eyes See No Future, End Of The Line, We Will Rise |

37.
Vektor - Black Future 2009 / USA / Progressive Thrash Metal / Favorite Songs: Forests Of Legend, Asteroid, Oblivion / It is because of albums like Black Future that I just don't understand how people can hate so much on young thrash bands. I mean listen to this and you will understand. Its surprising prog thrash with sometimes aggressive fast paced riffs, other times calm melodies and never disapointing you. Just give it a try. |
38.
The Sword - Warp Riders 2010 / USA / Heavy Metal / Favorite Songs: Lawless Lands, Arrows In The Dark, The Chronomancer, Pt.1 / This album is nostalgia on a cd. Everything done on here reminds you of classic hard rock and heavy metal bands. Its well thought and the musicians are delivering a superb performance. You have touches of Maiden, Sabbath and Deep Purple here and there. Lets just put it simply, its GREAT. |
39.
Anata - The Conductor's Departure 2006 / Sweden / Technical Death Metal / Favorite Songs: Better Grieved Than Fooled, Downward Spiral Into Madness, The Great Juggler |
40.
Children of Bodom - Something Wild 1997 / Finland / Melodic Death Metal / Favorite Songs: Lake Bodom, Touch Like Angel Of Death, Deadnight Warrior / So what now ? Don't judge me for adding some Children Of Bodom, you know they're good even if you won't admit it to yourself. Something Wild is a killer album, some monster that came out somewhere in Finland with no warning to crush everything in its path. The whole thing is pure Melod-death classic and I never get tired of it. |
41.
Viper - Theatre Of Fate 1989 / Brazil / Heavy & Power Metal / Favorite Songs: Theatre Of Fate, A Cry From The Edge, At Least A Chance / This hidden jewel is a recent discovery that blew my mind away. I can't believe how overlooked this release is. In fact this album has become one of my all time favorite Heavy/Power metal release, it is filled with brilliant melodies, incredible vocals done by Andre Matos and many memorable moments, if you don't know this, go and check it out NOW. |

Wow, this list is going to be helpful in finding new great music. But why oh why are Arch Enemy and Children Of Bodom in this list? Sure, those are their best albums (although I might prefer Follow The Reaper though), but they still kind of suck in my opinion.
To be honest I like this list more than your others already. Not saying your insanely huge thrash list is bad, but it's too overwhelming for someone like me.
Lastly, I don't want to be a smartass, but why don't you list them alphabetically since there's no specific order anyway? |

No clue why I don't list them in alphabetical order really, Im too lazy I guess. And well Arch Enemy and Children are in the list cuz I enjoy them.. very much lol. I don't think they suck, yes they are more mainstream than many... but their old stuff is pretty good for both of them. Opinions as always. And yeah I know my thrash list is pretty overwhelming but it was meant to be Its some kind of encyclopedia. |
